Newsday reports family members on the last day that they have any chance to make comments about LMDC plans for Ground Zero protested the burying of the memorial.
You didnít walk away thinking itís just a bunch of people, itís just a number,Ē Cheryl Shames of North Massapequa, who lost her brother Andrew Zucker, said, adding that there was the sense that Oklahoma wanted to remember. In New York, she said, plans call for the memorial to be hidden underground. ďI feel like New York wants to forget.Ē
Another member who lost family member said:
Iíd never visit it. Itís a disgrace. Itís a disgrace to all the people who lost their lives.
