Donald Trumpís much hyped promotion of plans to rebuild the Twin Towers turned out to be an endorsement of plans already discussed here support Ken Gardnerís makenynyagain.com proposal.
The NY Daily News adds this wrinkle:
For last yearís run of ďThe Apprentice,Ē Gardner told Fox News Channel that he built an architectural model of Trump Tower in Chicago, where winner Bill Rancic went to supervise construction.
Gardner and incidentally appeared last week on MSNBC Hardball with Chris Matthews.
NY Post Letters supported the proposal:
Mayor Koch was trying to repair Wollman Rink in Central Park. The city claimed it would take two years. The people were outraged, and Donald Trump did it in four months. Of course Trump is the one to rebuild the World Trade Center. Heíll have it up before Gov. Pataki and his cronies get together for their next meeting. Just give him the keys and let him loose. And give Libeskind his walking papers.
Trump nailed it right on the head. I admire Trump as a person and as a business man. I also admire his beautiful buildings. He has great taste in building design ó a whole lot better than that awful Freedom Tower.
People say no one would work in the Twin Towers if they were rebuilt. But people will go back to work there, just as they do at the Sears Tower and Empire State Building.
It is not just New Yorkers who want the Twin Towers rebuilt. There is support nationwide. There needs to be a national poll commissioned to take the publicís temperature on this issue. Then, perhaps, the wimpy politicians who run New York will get the message. Kudos to Donald Trump for speaking out on this issue.
