I never heard of Joseph Kennedy being cursed, or what Jews have in connection with him. What I heard was this, from my godmother: It was Joseph's grandfather Patrick Kennedy that brought the famous curse on the family, the evidence would not show right away. The story is that, before leaving Ireland Patrick had seduced a local girl, getting her pregnant. When she realized that he had no intention of marrying her she drowned herself. Her father discovered her body and swore he'd have Patrick Kennedy's blood. Too late, the scoundrel had already left Ireland, the father arriving only to spot the smoke from the distant steamer. (My godmother tended to embellish things.) He swore on his daughter's grave that Patrick Kennedy might find fame and fortune in America, and that it would only bring tragedy, unto his sons, and thier sons, and so on, through the generations. Of course, this didn't become obvious until the later Kennedys.... |
