Coach,
I run a single wing offense. I have a play I call the wing back counter. Its basically a fake sweep out of an I formation. The FB and TB run to the position of the wing back. The wingback holds his block for one second and then heads towards the QB. The FB and TB block the DE and incoming OLB. The QB hands off to the Wing Back who essentially runs a reverse to the opposite side of the formation. The Play is very soild against a 5-2 and 6-2 defense. We would usually get 10 yards each time we ran it. However, we also got 3 touchdowns last season using it. The play works really well when you set it up first by running several actual sweeps out of the same formation.
Hope to compare notes with you.
Sincerely,
Art

hi coach, I'm coaching 8-10yr old boys this season and would like to find around 8 plays passing and running that the boys can really learn. I've got a kid that can really throw, but gonna have to see if anyone can catch.I dont believe anyone in this area is using this offense so i figured it would be a great opportunity to succeed.Any help i can get from you would be appreciated.thanks

I am a middle school football coach who runs the Single Wing, and those interested in running the Single Wing - at any age - should read the following books:
Simplified Single Wing - by Ken Kueffel
Single Wing with the Spinning Fullback - by John Aldrich
If your local library doesn't have them, ask about inter-library loans. Also, Aldrich has a website where you can purchase a condensed version of the book - basically a playbook - and a video can be purchased as well. I have spoken personally with Mr. Aldrich. He's a wealth of knowledge about football.
Delphi Forums has a Single Wing site as well - log onto it and you will be able to learn a lot.
I'd suggest unbalanced line SW. And, believe it or not, the SW makes a great play-action passing game for youth.
