Can any of you other coachs that have played or played against the gap 8 (original gap-8) please tell me of it's weakness, other than the offtackle hole.

In 1999 I play a team that ran a Gap 8 Defense, the first game they beat me 28-0. We was not ready.
We meet the same team in the second round of the playoffs. I change up the blocking system and went to
Gap Blocks or Zone Blocking, If the play went to the the right the entire line block down to the right, taking the gaps away. also look at running so unbalance plays and having either the tackle or end block down silling that side. Look at trap blocking the inside tackles.
Also I work on getting the defense out of the box with twin or trips to one side. So things that might help.
Also we did win the game to go the championship game the next week. Good Luck coach.
