How do you make your players more physical?

I coach 3rd and 4th grade players. They are 60 to 80 lb. players, most have played before. My problem is, they don't seem to be physical enough to kick the other team's butt. They do ok, they are fast, and most understand the game enough (for a nine year old). We do King of the Pit, Bull in the ring, and some Oklahoma, but only the better players step up in these drills. Any ideas? Anyone? Thanks.

has to be instilled in your players.

teach form and technique for proper safe tackling

walk before you run, be progressive, ie, we tackle first from the knees then progress to half speed standing then full speed standing and only angle tackling (safety issue)

drills like bull and ring are very intense and probably too scary for newbies. progress to those drills...we never do bull and ring though. we do a ton of angle tackling and the bermuda triangle drill that is posted on my site www.coachcalande.com

stay with it, your kids will improve.
