Don't know if it makes any sense, but for some reason I'd be more leery of semi-raw beef than the flesh of something which had been scampering around the woods.
I mean - I know cows are shot full of so many antibiotics one wonders why a prescription isn't required to buy beef, but I thought this was because the conditions the farm-bred ones are raised in are so Godawful that disease runs rampant among their numbers, besides which there's plenty of evidence that even the ones that are too sick to walk there are shoved into the slaughterhouse and thus into the food supply.
I figure any animals living in the wild that get sick just keel over in the middle of nowhere.
One way or another, I like stuff pretty thoroughly cooked.
As to the dinged up deer I ran over, I think I gave 'um a bit of a quick "pan-sear" with Kaga's exhaust system - just spotted a dent in the muffler earlier this morning - which might explain the weird burning odor in the air at the time.
I thought it was due to some fluid leak spurting onto the hot engine or some such, but in retrospect it must have been poor ol Bambi getting scorched on top of busted up.
Makes me wish all the more that I'd had some sort of firearm to put him out of his misery, but whadda ya gonna do ?
