No change in the situation has occured at all, period. The only possible change for now, let me empahsize FOR NOW, is a reduction in American casualties in Iraq.

Iraq is going to become the Balkans East in fairly short order at the first possible opportunity. They'll be slaughtering each other for ethnic, religious, nationalistic and economic reasons without mercy or respite. Like I said, Balkans East at the first opportunity.

At that point we either go back in or watch some agency outside the "democraticaly elected government of Iraq" (I laugh so hard I almost piss myself everytime I see that one) take control of the joint and its resource. We can only hope it will be the Turks because they are at least marginally cooperative with the west.

The intelligent course for President Bush (oxymoron there) would have been to leave Saddam alone. He'd bluster and finagle but so many eyes were on him that he most certainly was not a real threat. He was however a defeatable entity, unlike Al-Quida, with oil reserves, sooooo in go the troops.

Now some in the GOP are pissed because the President didn't praise Mr. Bush for initiating the strategy that led to our withdrawal/victory! Now THAT is some kind of fucking logic! Their boy is the one that created the mess that wasn't necessary in the first place!

That Republican position is akin to congratulating a person who is self-abusive for ending that practice...................because they finally injured themself fatally! IDIOTS!!!

I've heard tell...

September 3 2010, 12:24 AM

`
...That among The Ossiah's new self-appointed tasks is making an attempt to reconcile the Shiites & Sunnis and thereby put an end to the sectarian strife in Vietraq.

Sounded to me about as stupid a notion as the shruBsian idea that Uncle Sam The Omnipotent could just wave his magic "shock and awe" and impose democracy on the place.

Even odder was a radio news piece detailing an Ossianic "warm up" speech for his rambling, disjointed national prattling given at an army base in which he actually stated that the Inutile Crusade had "made America more secure".

My fukkin' jaw literally fell open !

The who did WHAT ?!?!??

Loved the nonsense coming from the FOX-ey neo-con crowd about how The Ossiah would be so peevish and petty as to omit an aknowledgement of how the "Wurge" won the war... ...then again, these folks still talk of the colossal blunder as though it was some manner of triumph of foreign policy.

As to the oil factor - we can see how well the whole "Iraqi oil will pay for the war/reconstruction" rationale worked out !

More like Ch'in Empire "War Bonds" - at least for the former.

Uh Oh ! Gotta go...

E-mail form Grassfire Nation sez "Our Nation Is Under Armed Attack" !

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Stay tuned for INUTILE CRUSADE II: Debaclarama DeLuxe

On the oil.....

September 3 2010, 6:16 AM

I know it didn't pay for the expense of this latest debacle. There wasn't another good reason to go there, and that was my point though it may not have come through that way!

Shotgun Dick is smiling at Haliburton headquarters I betcha! Prick!sad.gif

If 'twas oil we wanted...

September 3 2010, 11:08 PM

`
...We could have likely gotten it for a pittance compared to what we pissed away and piled up in debt by just offering to modernize Uncle Saddo's infrastructure in return for a cut of the increased production. We could have sold him some decent equipment to replace all that Russian junk we blew off the face of the Earth in Gulf War I to boot.

Nah...........

September 4 2010, 6:40 AM

Your idea is sound, but there is no way the core GOP movers and shakers supporting Bush stand for it! Christ every TV rev and right wing talk show host alive would have immediately dropped dead if an arms deal were cut with Saddam!

Not to mention that the GOP probably never sees another fekking dime of Jewish campaign money. That doesn't even begin to figure on what kind of mischief our good "ally" Israel causes when that comes out!

If we let him act the poser, kind of like a 21st Century Mussolini, and run his own place the way he saw fit that would have been enough to keep the black juice flowing.

Saddolini...

September 4 2010, 12:16 PM

`
Wasn't one of the reasons he clanked into Kuwait because Iraq was pretty much broke after the Iran-Iraq war, and there was no money to keep up the antiquated Iraqi oil production-related infrastructure, let alone expand/modernize ?

I know it likely had as much to do with Saddo's wacky vision of himself as some "latter-day Saladin" sweeping across the Mid-East to establish an empire of sorts, but I think the question mark hanging over Iraq's ability to recover on its own remains. shruB could have given Halliburton the same kinda no-bid contract to do all the work that they got to do the "non-rebuilding" - or whatever one would call it - that they ended up getting.

I wonder if the "X-ian Fundies" would have raised "Holy Hell" over some sort of deal with Iraq...
I thought their big beef was with Iran & their "opposite numbers" in the "Islamo-fascist" camp. At least Uncle Saddo was a secular ruler.

eh...

I guess one could bandy about what-ifs from here to doomsday.

Damn it all! I missed the critical word infrastructure! POOP!

I don't know what the hell I read or thought I saw, but it had to do with the military!

Forget the debate! I concur.

Yeah, the Revs and Yakkers go along with that program!

I did mention The Saddonian Legions...

September 5 2010, 1:36 AM

`
...sort of implying that we could trade guns for "awl"... ...I mean "erl"...

You know... ...Black Gold... ...Texas Tea...

eh... ...would have gone over like a lead balloon, anyway, no doubt.

I still maintian that I should be in charge of US foreign policy.

It might not work any better than what we got, but it'd be a damn sight more creative than what the "cubicle dwellers" running things now are comin' up with !

When I get to be the Divine Monarch. Though I think once we get bored with trying to straighten out our lessers we'll just have to simply resort to the "Big Bang" we both seem to think so highly of!wink.gif

Underground bunker

September 6 2010, 2:09 PM

Sounds good, but it will have to come equipped with a radiation free launch pad and landing zone. I'd hate like hell to miss the greatest fireworks display of all time!wink.gif

AFter all, there's the entire national budget on hand to finance it's construction... ...aside from the cost of building the "firecrackers", of course.

My thoughts precisely

September 7 2010, 6:23 AM

The big question is who will our minions be? I mean the regular denizens all seem qualified to assume at least the equivalent of cabinet level positions, but who will be the minions?
