With both my Master and Mistress, I did have a safeword that they gave me. In all the time that I have been with Mistress, I don't recall using the safeword with Her. With Master, I have used it once, and I admit that afterwards I wish that I didn't because I realized that I wanted more. But none the less I agree with you that if you know the Master/Mistress well enough to trust them and the Master/Mistress knows Their sub over a long period of time, then safewords are not necessary, but it is nice to know that it is there. Kind of like...secuirty in just "knowing" it is there. Know what I mean?
