After you've given some thought on the ORIGINAL CREATED ROLE for women before the women's libbers jump in, please understand that the ROLE of HELPER God gave for the woman is an HONOURABLE ROLE because man was not able to handle the responsibilities God gave HIM by himself. Therefore GOD PROVIDED THE WOMAN FOR THAT NEED.
Gen 2:18
18 Then the LORD God said,
"It is not good for the man to be alone; I will make him a helper suitable for him." (NAS)
Before the libbers jump in, this honourable role for women IN NO WAY disqualifies them as UNEQUAL in HUMANESS. They are equal in ALL WAYS with man INCLUDING BEING SINFUL and falling short in THEIR ROLE.
Rom 3:23
23 for ALL have sinned and FALL SHORT of the glory of God, (NAS)

As Biblical history moved on we can see that God's CHOSEN NATION "ISRAEL" at times did not walk with God and sinful distorted thoughts began to permeate ALL the people of Israel man AND woman as a consequence of the beginning.
Gen 3:16
16 To the woman He said, "I will greatly multiply Your pain in childbirth, in pain you shall bring forth children; yet your desire shall be for your husband, and he shall rule over you." (NAS)

I'm thinking of the ones in 1 Cor, Eph. 5, Col. 3, 1 Tim 2, Titus , and 1 Peter 3.
Since they are close together, let's look at what Paul says about wives and husbands who want to glorify the God of the Bible in their marriage.
Eph 5:22-25
22 Wives, {be subject} to your own husbands, as to the Lord.
23 For the husband is the head of the wife, as Christ also is the head of the church, He Himself {being} the Savior of the body.
24 But as the church is subject to Christ, so also the wives {ought to be} to their husbands in everything.
25 Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself up for her; (NAS)
In verse 22... again in a GOD GLORIFYING MARRIAGE the WIFE is to be subjected to her OWN HUSBAND as to the Lord Himself. However, in vs 23 it clarifies the RESPONSIBILTY of the HUSBAND to his wife to lead her PROPERLY, and TRUTHFULLY, and to PROTECT HER in the same way God does the whole body of TRUE BELIEVERS, (the church).
Vs 24 informs TRUE Christians ESPECIALLY wives who REALLY WANT to glorify God in their marriage to be SUBJECT to their husbands in everything that is intended to TRULY bring glory to God, that includes encouragement, as well as giving correction PRIVATELY to a husband who may wander OFF the path of the goal to bring glory to God.
Vs 25 instructs hubands that TRULY LOVE GOD and want to glorify Him,
that they are to LOVE THEIR WIVES with TRUTH and to make sure their religion is not really leading their wives into their own hell. Christ is the TRUTH to the body of believers.
The husband's love for his wife should ALSO EXUDE that SAME TRUTH.
