Doesn't seem like a very big problem in this case.

Response to My problem is this...

The Zadokite Priesthood is part of the historical record.
-- Antiochus, Onias, Ptolemy, Leontopolis...
You can find the whole story in the Works of Josephus.

As for the Biblical aspect of how the Zadokites became "Top Dogs" in the Temple...
Well, that has already been addressed by Vince in a previous post...

Vince Said: Young King Josiah HIMSELF was raised by the Priesthood, his father having been killed "by the people" for some mysterious reason.

Apparently -to me- it looks like a complete setup. It was really at THIS TIME that the Zadokites seized power from the Aaronic priesthood and simply wrote their own fake history into the scriptures of their time, making it appear that the Zadokites had been blessed way back in time, by King David already.

Hilkiah ... the grandson of Zadok .... right? It really started with Hilkiah and not Zadok from W-A-Y back
Of course...
I would agree that chasing down the rabbit trails of speculative history...
Can, indeed, be an enjoyable and productive way to pass the time...
However...
IMO...
With the historical record...
And the Dead Sea Scrolls...
We NOW have enough background on the story...
To allow us to figure out what was happening...
-- At the time of Jesus.

And, when you're dealing with "Christianity"...
-- Isn't that what really counts...?
