| The FALL of man happened BACK in the Garden, when Adam and Eve exercised their free will choice to eat of the fruit they were commanded NOT TO EAT.
Gen 2:16-17
16 And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, "From any tree of the garden you may eat freely;
17 but from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat from it you shall surely die." (NAS)
So by the time of Abraham, mankind was ALREADY fully capable of doing wrong. You must remember Noah preceded Abraham.
However in God's SOVEREIGN PLAN the time had come to 'BEGIN' fulfilling the first Messianic prophecy of Scripture.
Gen 3:15
15 And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your seed and her seed; He shall bruise you on the head, and you shall bruise him on the heel." (NAS)
So God BEGAN by calling out a people and forming a NATION of peoples that would be representatives of the ONE TRUE GOD here on earth. Now REMEMBER ... man is STILL CAPABLE SINNING.
Without going to the whole story, we'll just look at the Abrahamic Covenant.
The Abrahamic Covenant is UNCONDITIONAL... That has NOTHING to do with SALVATION.
The Abrahamic Covenant contains 3 promises that WILL BE fulfilled, partially now but fully in the future.
1. The promise of land.
It has been PARTIALLY FULFILLED BUT not FULLY.....Right now they dwell in a small peace of land but THEN the LAND will expand to as far as the EYE CAN SEE in EVERY DIRECTION however that is a PROMISE to Abraham regarding the NATION of Israel it has NOTHING to with a person's SALVATION which IS CONDTIONAL UPON BELIEF.
Christ was addressing the Pharisees and He said...
John 8:24
24 "I said therefore to you, that you shall die in your sins; for unless you believe that I am {He} you shall die in your sins." (NAS)
You must differentiate what God has said to Abraham (The father of the Jewish nation) about the NATION, FROM what He said to the PEOPLE that belong to that nation.
2. God also promised Abraham that he would have descendants and those descendants would grow into a GREAT NATION. That's been fulfilled partially also and led into the Davidic Covenant where God promised that the Messiah would come from the desendants of Abraham (Israel).
2 Sam 7:12-16
12 When your days are over and you rest with your fathers, I will raise up your offspring to succeed you, who will come from your own body, and I will establish his kingdom.
13 He is the one who will build a house for my Name, and I will establish the throne of his kingdom forever.
14 I will be his father, and he will be my son. When he does wrong, I will punish him with the rod of men, with floggings inflicted by men.
15 But my love will never be taken away from him, as I took it away from Saul, whom I removed from before you.
16 Your house and your kingdom will endure forever before me; your throne will be established forever.'" (NIV)
This is a COVENANT with HIS PEOPLE.....ALL of HIS PEOPLE.
3. The 3rd promise in the Abrahamic Covenant is that this nation would be BLESSED AND THEY WOULD BE REDEEMED
Jer 31:31-34
31 "Behold, days are coming," declares the LORD, "when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah,
32 not like the covenant which I made with their fathers in the day I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt, My covenant which they broke, although I was a husband to them," declares the LORD.
33 "But this is the covenant which I will make with the house of Israel after those days," declares the LORD, "I will put My law within them, and on their heart I will write it; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people.
34 "And they shall not teach again, each man his neighbor and each man his brother, saying, 'Know the LORD,' for they shall all know Me, from the least of them to the greatest of them," declares the LORD, "for I will forgive their iniquity, and their sin I will remember no more." (NAS)
Now some will say that ALL of Israel will KNOW Christ meaning that ALL the people of Israel WILL (in the future)BE SAVED. It is MY 'OPINION' ONLY, that only those of Israel that BELIEVE and RECEIVE Christ as Lord and Savior will be saved based on the Scriptures.
John 8:24
24 "I said therefore to you, that you shall die in your sins; for unless you believe that I am {He} you shall die in your sins." (NAS)
