Response to It may have "seemed" like a fact, but it wasn't.

Muslim terrorists attacked the WTC. Even if you subscribe to the conspiracies that it was an inside job, Muslim terrorists have been trying to take down the WTC for years in failed attempts, and Muslim terrorists have taken credit and/or applauded the attacks on the WTC. So, the association between the WTC attacks and Muslim terrorists is quite clear.

A Muslim organization wanting to build a place of prayer, or a "holy place", or a "sanctuary", at or near the place of devastation caused (allegedly) by Muslim terrorists is questionable. It is easy to understand those that view it as an "in your face, America" insult, or "we will conquer you American infidels" statement, or a "fight on freedom fighters, we're winning minor victories every day against the mighty American military machine" signal. The Muslim religion, and associated culture, is rich with symbolism and martyrdom; and has a history of such acts on conquest and humiliation of their enemies. They built a mosque on top of the ruins of Solomon's temple, one of the most holy & revered location of their arch enemies - the Jewish people, of all places.

So... If the reasons for it being of "questionable taste", and/or it being a blatantly passive-aggressive political move, are not so obvious for you, and others... Then maybe the reasons aren't so obvious then, other than to me.
