Neither did we end it. The Soviet Union continued with aggression resulting in the cold war and rampaged nation after nation until its failure in Afghanistan. China renewed it's government along with North Korea resulting in the Korean war. Revolutions spread throughout Africa and of course there was the founding of Israel which kept conflict in the middle east ramp-id.

I'm not even going to mention the USA with its empire building philosophy. While Germany and Japan were destroyed militarily, economically and socially - it only opened the door to endless wars. And the USA is either directly or indirectly responsible for a great many of them.

However Mondo is correct in that the Soviet Union played the far greatest role in the fall of the Reich and its allies.
