If we assume Genesis is meant to be true, it is either meant to be literally true or it is meant to be figuratively true - there are no other choices.
When Gen. 1:1 is meant to be literally true, then, given what it poses and how it does so, it is both an unsound and invalid premise.
When Gen. 1:1 is meant to be figuratively true, then it could mean manier thing and one thing it therefore most certainly means is that we cannot take Gen. 1:1 to be literally true.
Now what?

rejected and denied by many, accepted and embraced by few : incontrovertibility
- it is not what we (think we) know that matters, it is what we can show true that does
as the maxim demands; truth is demonstrably fact and fact is demonstrably true
everything else ... mere BS -
