There seems to be something in the power of belief.

You take salesmen for example ...

A good salesman blindly believes in the merit of the product he's selling. Good salesmen often aren't the brightest light bulbs when it comes to knowledge but they "kite it" anyway ... telling their customers whatever they happen to imagine, whatever they've been told ... or they make it up as they go from what they believe.

They sell well because they BELIEVE in the stuff they sell!

Then there are others who know too much. They can't sell anything because they believe in telling the truth and the truth often is ... the stuff they're trying to sell doesn't stand up to the hype and doesn't impress THEM.

Believing is often more effective than knowing the truth.
