If the purpose of prophecy is for non-believers ... it certainly doesn't work too well because the ONLY people who believe it's a prophecy ARE already believers.
You keep missing the point I made -MY opinion- which is ...
You make God out to be some little helpless peon who can't communicate with people directly ... in a current time frame. No. Instead, he has to rely on the willingness of some person to WRITE DOWN his message ... and then for the next 3000 years, God has to RELY on that one written account to give his message to all the generations that follow the writer.
My own perception of God is that he's much more powerful than that and DOESN'T need any stinken writings from 3000 years ago to convey his message today.
I don't give a fig about what Zechariah (or any other "prophet") wrote down thousands of years ago. What I'm interested in is what God may be telling us today.
