A scientist concentrating on the scientific side of things only, is the proverbial tunnelvision scientist staring through its magnifying device, blinkers on, missing out on the grander picture. The scientist who is able to step away from his gadgets and applying reason, logic and common sense accordingly, and thus giving both sides of the coin equal merit, is, in effect, an alchemist.
