Yes, it's true that Gerard and I were the best of enemies for quite some time. We were not nice to each other, to say the least.

We now tolerate one another well.

Pretty funny that anyone here thought that Gerard and I were a conspiracy.

If you want 'down and dirty', take a look at Mr.D's Forum. And the posts that flew between Gerard and me. Hah. I decided it's easier to be friendly.

I do have a rather ummmm hot temper at times.

Thanks for telling me about the conspiracy: that's a riot!

"I do have a rather ummmm hot temper at times"

IMHO, you give better than ya get more than most of the time.

Saying what you mean and meaning what you say IS important, I guess that admitting when you are wrong has some import also...but you no need worry about that too often :-)

Shup!

I seem to be running into a lot of gentlemen lately on this forum as well as Mr.D's. I'd ask about competition for your kindnesses; however, I know enough to understand that you're not interested in competing when your natural abilities are concerned.

Other importances have your attention.

Been there, done that, bought the t-shirt, and threw it away.

February 11 2010, 8:04 AM

Gerard and I also have had our combative interactions that went on for a few years. Upon a little consideration, I realized my own contribution to the animosities. I took it upon myself to try out to change that.

The result was nothing that I expected. Not between Gerard and me, that's rather amicable and I think it's fair to say that both Gerard and I value the peaceful interactions more than our previous ones. It is the reactions of some others that I didn't expect. All those that truly carry some animosity, or even hatred, turned against me. Simply for trying to be friendly to someone.

There were, and are, other dynamics at play of course, most of which has settled down and been resolved. Interestingly, this one hasn't. Merely being on positive terms with Gerard means that I am on negative terms with some, regardless of my intentions, belief, or character. I suspect that you will encounter the same.

And the most puzzling of all is that the most vindictive folks have one trait in common - they all espouse to be faithful and loving Christians.

Gerard... Apologies for any offense that this might be towards you regarding speaking on your behalf. My intent is to share my own experiences and perspective, not drag you through any mud. Especially today. Best of thoughts to you and yours.

Hmmm

February 11 2010, 8:18 AM

The Arab nations cuddled up to Nazi Germany in World War II though Noob. What did that do for six million Jews?

I can appreciate trying to be friends but if it's at the cost of truth, then what is the purpose?

Matt 6:19-21
19 "Do not lay up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal.
20 "But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys, and where thieves do not break in or steal;
21 for where your treasure is, there will your heart be also. (NAS)

We're all gonna die eventually and the things treasured so much for THIS WORLD will mean NOTHING if heaven is your hope for the next world.

Many learn what the lessons are yet they fail to incorporate the meaning of the lessons into their lives.

"...there's a difference between knowing the path, and walking the path."

Many know the path, and do not walk it.
Many preach the path, and do not walk it.
Many berate others and yet they do not know the path of those others.
Many berate others not really knowing the path that they are on.
Many fight to be on the path when fighting isn't allowed on the path.
Many are not hestitant to show others when they're on the path, which takes them off the path.
And the interesting twist is that many walk the path, and do not even know it.

Not comprehending is a possibility.

February 11 2010, 1:34 PM

As much as I rant about the stupidity that exists in the world, I don't believe that anyone doesn't have the ability to comprehend such simple ideas. They're so basic that 5 year olds can comprehend them.

And I don't agree with the circular argument that is implied by your statement. Circular arguments are, by definition, logical fallacies.

In YOUR world that would make sense

February 12 2010, 12:20 AM

However, in the world of TRUTH a man born blind cannot comprehend sight. TRUE? He would have to get sight from a Source outside of himself. A Source that can provide sight.

Once one RECEIVES SIGHT then comprehension from that perspective is learned.

That would be another inapplicable hyperbole.

February 12 2010, 5:24 AM

Those born blind can be taught the path, they can be taught to read braille, they can read & reason like any other, the Word of God is written on their hearts just as it is written on any other person's. Same goes for the deaf. Same goes for any person on the planet.

So again, your implied circular argument does not hold water outside of your own set of self-validations.

No, that's not hyerbole just like the first one wasn't.

February 12 2010, 11:33 AM

It's figurative to demonstrate a fact. If you can demonstrate anyone born blind that can comprehend sight, then you would have basis for an argument but you can't and THAT's a fact. Think of someone blind fromn birth and ask them of the comprehension of beautiful.

Your definition of hyperbole seems amiss.

February 12 2010, 11:45 AM

I have a nephew who was born blind. He was given sight at 9 months old. So your example is suspect because it is contrary to my real life experience.

"Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder".

"Words & poems are beautiful, sight isn't needed."

"Thoughts & acts are beautiful, sight isn't needed."

"Music and sounds are beautiful, sight isn't needed."

You have a circular logic that holds your rationalizations, religious views, and world views in place. You would be much more intellectually honest to simply admit that - to yourself and everyone.

As illustrated by my nephew, who was born blind and given sight at 9 months. And who subsequently lost it again at 17 years old.

What God chooses to reveal to a person is not limited to the mere 5 senses that we're born with.

The friendship with people like this only exists as long as you kiss up...most of us have had several rounds of this with zipper boy. It is his time to make amends and not break the friendship. My dad called these types fair weather friends. In reality they are nev er really a true friend.

Good example Nucc!

James 4:4b (KJV)
know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.

I learned about the Hitler argument while playing bridge at school. I love to find 'new knowledge'; almost every term or 'law' I think I am using correctly seems to have a much more fascinating history than I had thought.

You may imagine the 'Hitler' argument was used when I got the grand slam that I bid.

I used him as an example of making friends. I don't see Noob in the same light as you sea. I see him as a person of the world, whose vision is of the world. Hopefully you will understand that I view from a different perspective. I view things as they are in REALITY.

Totally agreed that it's difficult to understand text on a forum, moreso when one doesn't know much about the other.

I should be more careful when judging. Even going to "judge not lest ye be not judged". Though a forum is a less than formal place,
it's much easier to understand another when you know where he/she stands.

Although, I do admit to frustration for the lack of logic and consideration that is given so often. But after so many years eventually we learn that people believe what they need to in order to get through the day. And as long as it does no harm to anyone, what difference does it matter what people need to believe?

"Forgive them, for they know not what they do" were some wise words once spoken by someone in a time of terrible stress in amongst the worst situations possible.

Well....then should you be telling others what to do...

February 12 2010, 12:13 AM

or showing them an example?

you can't have it both ways....and treating my words like they are some personal attack....when they have 110 per cent scriptural legitimacy to ask....

is lame....stop being such a tool and kissing up to everyone....the flattery by you here is so thick it can be cut with a knife....and....do you think i am the only one who sees it?

your gross personal insecurities John.....are only aurpassed by your....'tell others you judge one thing....but show them here an entirely different thing'...

and you are to say this is a lie by me?

i open you the opportunity to say so.....(of course....this is where the good ole buz club' come to your rescue too...

it doesn't work John.....all the personal crap at me in the world...doesn't change the reality.....am i saying something that has validity....or is it completely bogus about the way you are here??

you cannot escape this no matter what rhetoric or false flatteries you throw out there....

you just cannot get away with judging people spiritually as you do....then walk such a hypocrisy and act like it is an attack if someone calls you on it...be it me...noob whomever....

denial.....is THE most self defeating behaviour....either carnally or spiritually one can embrace....

read what Noob is saying to both you AND nucc.....there is MUCH wisdom in his words.....contrary to what your pride...or your pals say....

your conscience on this won't lie if you let it answer....
