...what may be the exact book becauase the book I'm reading didn't quote the authors it only quoted the 1987 publisher. There are other books with the same title but have named different publishers than the 1987 copy.
Apparently BBC Books is owned by Random House and so THIS MAY BE the Book spoken of.

You try to reason, try to discuss rationally, and after a bit you figure, oh, why not poke back. Problem is I can't continue for long. It just doesn't matter than much, and I can't match the hatred and anger. Not that I want to sound sorry about that, I just can't get too concerned for very long. Although it is pretty obvious that some are just poking and prodding, wanting a big reaction so they can say "Look at the unbelievers! They're worse than us. Our anger is righteous. Those loosers! (sic)."

Before the Oilers got in the NHL. Yeah, I am that old! Really it was anybody but Montreal growing up. Just because they were the perennial winners.
But with Pronger in Philly, and with their style of play, yes, I wanted to see Chicago rewarded. It would be nice to see a return to some more run and gun type hockey.
I've had many discussions with my whole family where the whole family was there. I said what had to be said and found little support from anyone at least not vocally, although I believe there are a couple that do give thought about God at times. Unfortunately, there is nothing more I can do than what I'm doing, accept continue praying, so I've just accepted that most of my family may be lost forever. God's Word tells me not to worry but I'm not sure what He means by that. Possibly, it means that the lost ones in the family will not be remembered in heaven. I just don't know.
It's a sad place to be. Thinking that most of your family is going to burn in Hell for eternity. I understand the extreme anger and frustration he must feel, so he lashes out at others.
This isn't taking shots. It is understanding. Empathizing even. There was a time I believed as he did.
What does telling someone about Christ have to do with getting along with people? As a Christian I should expect to even be hated just like Christ. I don't have a deep need like you that joins others in insulting Christ just to get some friends gerardo.

That's what I see anyway. The words he would like to say to his family, he says to us.
We are surrogates for his anger and frustration. He believes this "eternal Hell" doctrine of the devil, and it scares him .. and he wants so much to save his family, but they don't believe the same as he does.
So he gets angry, but if he takes it out on them he'll be completely isolated from them. So he comes to forums to lash out.
Now that I understand that I do feel better, and feel that we are doing a great service for Nucc, allowing him to express himself without further alienating his real life family and friends.
I remember my sister giving me the "barrage". She phoned me before leaving on a cruise (back in 2002) because she "felt" she might never see me alive again and .... she wanted to give it one last shot! (Funny why Christians have this idea that God will smite someone dead if/when they deconvert?)
So I had quite the session with her, trying to reassure her that I'd be all right and that "whatever will be, will be" and that I wasn't the slightest bit worried about going to hell or dying as a result of my deconversion. I told her I'd studied it extremely well and also prayed a lot ... before coming to my ultimate conclusions. I doubt that any of my reassurances made the slightest bit of difference to her perception at that time. Over the ensuing years though ... I believe it has. I'm still alive and doing no worse now than I was then. (I guess God isn't too concerned about "getting" me too quickly ... or about my negative impact on his evangelistic efforts and plans!~)
If you want to know how I REALLY FEEL. I wish Armeggedon would happen today. There was frustration at the beginning when I was a young Christian but after 40 years of witnessing even church families with some of their loved ones passing from this world with no observable evidence of salvation, you come to accept that salvation is not of me but of the Lord.

...I am glad that they are excercising their free will choice to not come to Christ as He is. I don't agree with their choice but I know that God is not a rapist to force salvation on them. They hate it when one uses scholarly commentaries to expose their ignorance, as well as their hatred for the things of God. Take Vince, for example. He tries vcery hard to come across as a know-it-all and tries very hard to twist and distort not only the scriptures, but church history as well, and time after time he has shown a propensity for hating legitimate scholarship because it not only refutes his perverted views, but exposes him as actually being ignorant and not knowing anything at all about what he attempts to talk about, as well as exposes his scripture-twisting and distortion of scripture and history. The same also applies to the fake pope, Phred, Mondo, JVH (posting as truth-b-told and possibly a host of other handles). It is as the apostle Paul stated, "Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools" (Romans 1:22). Interestingly, the Greek word Paul used that is translated as "fool" is mrainomai and means to "lose taste, lose saltiness, turn into inert substance, cause to become nonsense"

You are correct in my use of commentaries in that I quote them to show that the opinion is not my own, but shared by many legitimate, reputable scholars. I'm unaware of ANY Christian (minister and layperson alike) who does not use commentaries and it seems that the fact that scholarly resources are appealed to refute and expose their ignorance is something this mindless, Christ-hating, Jew-hating, God-hating bunch cannot stand.
Nobody said they were not prone to error, and nobody even suggested that they replace God or His Word. Therefore you once again demonstrate you know not what you are talking about, but speak presumptuously as all false teachers do. You would also be wise to take heed to your own "advice" and seek God rather than your Gnostic/esoteric bullcrap that is nothing more than demonic deception.
