HA?!?! a basket building

April 8 2012, 5:58 PM

Who would have EVER imagined a basket building....

Did ya know EASTER was never in the Bible?

Acts12:4
4 And when he had apprehended him, he put him in prison, and delivered him to four quaternions of soldiers to keep him; intending after Easter to bring him forth to the people. {Easter: Gr. Passover}

They replaced the word PASSOVER with EASTER.

EASTER is a Babylonian holiday of fertility.
Eggs and bunnies have more to do with erection then the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Judges2:13
13 And they forsook the LORD, and served Baal and Ashtaroth.

Of course "Easter" shouldn't be in the Bible

That's a word from a totally different continent and culture. The NIV had the word "Passover"; one of the many inaccuracies in the KJV.

But Passover is a different celebration completely. Easter, despite it's pagan roots and the current commercialism, is a uniquely Christian holiday to celebrate the resurrection of Jesus. And that's certainly worth celebrating =)

As for the bunnies, chicks, eggs, flowers, butterfies, etc...yep, they were once regarded as fertility symbols. But looking at a much bigger picture, they are symbols of *life*, specifically NEW life, and that is what the resurrection is all about. And who created all of the bunnies, chicks, eggs, flowers, and butterflies? Christians have adopted other natural symbols: doves, lambs, fish, rainbows...all to the glory of the Creator =)

"Let heaven and earth praise him, the seas and all that move in them" (Psalm 69:34)

"Let the heavens rejoice, let the earth be glad; let the sea resound, and all that is in it; let the fields be jubilant, and everything in them. Then all the trees of the forest will sing for joy; they will sing before the LORD, for He comes, He comes to judge the earth. He will judge the world in righteousness and the peoples in his truth." (Psalm 96:11-13)

"Praise him, sun and moon, praise him, all you shining stars.
Praise him, you highest heavens and you waters above the skies.

Praise the LORD from the earth, you great sea creatures and all ocean depths,
lightning and hail, snow and clouds, stormy winds that do his bidding, you mountains and all hills, fruit trees and all cedars, wild animals and all cattle, small creatures and flying birds," (Psalm 148:3-4,7-10).
