Oh how I long to be in the Central.....

Last nights game was brutal all around....

The ICE were brutal (save what looked like good efforts from Glass & Lee)

Shaw was brutal - I guess it was better than no game but they have to get their kinks worked out. I really didn't enjoy listening to our local Shaw broadcast while watching the game and the color was making my eyes buggy....I didn't think I could watch the ref's blinking arm bands any longer.

Having the ICE in the BC division is also brutal. I love this rivalry with Calgary and Red Deer I just wish it would mean more by being in the same division. In any case looks like the "hate on" is back on.

Well, at least our fella's showed they will stand up for themselves and won't back down...a good message to send I guess.

Even though it was a close scrap, I think that was the first fight I've seen that Cherewyk didn't handly beat someone...as a matter of fact I think I give the decision to Ladd for the few he got him at the end. Wow, did Fauth ever get his lunch fed to him....does he have any teeth left? We've got to enroll this kid in boxing lessons. He's big and he's willing but I haven't seen him win a fight yet, he consistently get's pummeled.

To bad the Bossman wasn't playing.

Oh yeah, kudos to the Hitmen coaching staff for benching Getzlaf in the third after a very selfish penalty on fourth liner DaSilva. A lot of coaches wouldn't have the balls to do it but they did. Nice to see some accountability.

Agree whole heartedly about the game, Glass and Lee. Can't remember Lee having a bad outing in all the games I've seen to date. Seems to be getting better as the schedule rolls on. Delighted he decided to report.
An observation: If CC had gotten the same level of commitment and energy out of his troops during the game as he did when he sent them out to fight, they would have had a chance to win.
Have enjoyed the fast start and work ethic on most nights so far but while these good teams were a test, the early positive outcomes were no indication of how the matchups would look as the season ground on. Ice are in tough in the West and central and while they may surprise people initially, they must be credible during the real challenges ahead [the usual injuries that one can always count on, our best players off to profile events, human resource development, a brutal schedule at times, and surviving the Christmas break just to name a few] by beating the best with some regularity if they are to do well in the final standings and post season. While achieving success will require they show up each night to compete, they may even have to over achieve to be near the top at the season's end. On that point CC in the Kelowna broadcast stroked his ego by saying his team last yr. over achieved. I would differ with that statement 'cause if last season was over achieving as his troops were a lackluster lot on too many nights, he must have gotten results at that level with a group of very poor hockey players. On the contrary, I believe the team was better than their record and he needs to get a handle on what over achieving actually looks like if he is to enjoy success in his performance against his bosses goals.
On that point, the "show" has clearly been given some badly needed attention and has improved overall and the on Ice expectations were made public by JC to start the season when he declared the team was good enough to compete for a WHL championship. The bar has been set now for the team's leadership. We'll have a better idea early after Christmas if the goal was realistic.
The surging Giants are next and they'll be looking to regain their pride. Will it be as Don Hay says, "60 minutes of hell"? BJ

I also Agree

There should have been no way that we should have been moved into the Bc Divison. First we hardly play Teams for the BC Divison enought times to gain any ground on them and going back to the day when the Ice frist came to cranbrook we were in the Centrel Divison. Also we have NO Rivals in the BC divison because we don't have the Chance to get one because again we don't play the teams enought. I Think however that If we played teams like Kamloops and Kelowna we might be able to get a rivelery out of that but other then that I see this as a wast of time to have us in the Bc Divison either let us play teams from the BC Divison the same amout of times as everyone elce or elce put us back in the Centreal Divison.

Does anyone know how much the league may have compensated the Ice for moving to the BC Division???

Compensation....More games with Red Deer, Calgary and Lethbridge

October 16 2004, 7:06 AM

I don't believe the ICE have rec'd anything in compensation to move to the BC Division, other than the unbalanced schedule which features Red Deer, Calgary and Lethbridge...We all know they are the natural rivalries, but I can also see the logic behind the formation of the BC Division. However geographics dictate rivalries in this League more than what would appear to be common sense.

The test is on the table this weekend....Giants, Rockeys and Blazers....Perverbial 12 pointer!!!

GO ICE GO...
