Re after goal celebrations ...October 31 2005 at 7:12 AM | OnICE (no login) |
| Ok, and I said I was done with posting and was just going to be a reader this year. I have to say this ... what the hell is going on with the after goal stuff!!! I liked the stirring the pot thing - it gave us some identity. But I agree that it saw it's day and we've moved on. The ICE, ICE, ICE chant after every goal has HUGE potential. It's simple ...it can be loud, etc. And it's what the fans want!! IT's being done without any assistance from the team whereas it should be embraced by the team. Yet I'm almost certain that what we are getting instead is that silly song turned up even louder so as to compete with and at times last night drown out the fans. It's like if it isn't in the "official" game night plan it's going to get shut down rather than embraced by the team? C'mon whomever is running the game night stuff for the team -- try to work with the fans instead of against them! Get some kind of drum beat thing going which will complement rather than working against the chant the fans are doing!!!
GO ICE GO!!!!
WE BELIEVE!!! |

I agree with you...embrace and encourage what the fans are doing...but it always goes back to the same old thing..."the hockey is enough." If they play something like the drumbeat more people would stop watching the other fans do the "ICEpick" and get up to do it themselves.
With just a little effort they could make the experience so much more resulting in 1st time and walk up fans coming back.
PS. on the same note of not working with the fans it's nice to see the website has been updated with the team pictures of the new guys. I've looked at some other sites around the league and ours is not good. Why not put a little bio of the teams favourite food, music, movie...what they like to do in the offseason, who their parents are etc. etc. These guys and the team create a positive image and influence in the community and with a place the size of Cranbrook why not make it more of a family...let the fans get to know these guys. A lot of people visit the site and it could have a far reaching effect. Oh, and my favourite one....would somebody, anybody please, please GET SOME NEW MUSIC!!!!!! Spend the $30 to get the music guy the ability to download some new songs.
PSS. Nice to see your contribution along with the likes of Deejay and others... (where's BJ?) things have slowed down a bit over the last while. Hope you continue to post. |

Still enjoying following the board daily, just been very busy this yr.
Good to see the new posters talking about the things that interest them. Variety being the spice....etc.
Also getting my writing fix with a column(two per week)a friend has me doing for his online newspaper.
Been covering the Lions for him...it's been a hoot. BJ |

Stir the pot served it's purpose but was never vocal nor contagious enough .
ICE-ICE-ICE along with the arm gesture after a goal is fun...but you're RIGHT... lets get some music ,drum roll, horns ...anything to really pump up the players & fans alike .
GO~ICE~GO
