I have had the opportunity to listen to the broadcasts from several WHL cities. Over all the Kootenay announcer is better than the others for a few reasons. First, the production is professional. Some other stations sound like you are listening to a couple of non-radio guys discussing a game from their livingroom. Second, and this may not impress some other teams, the Kootenay announcer tends to be less biased than others. Complaining about referees and the injustices to the home team are too common. And third, you can actually visualize the play. Some announcers make it difficult to imagine what is going on. Is there room for improvement? Sure, there always is. It gets a little tiring to hear the same stories about the same players. All announcers suffer from this. Fact is, the announcer will recognize the skating style and have a few more stories about the vets. New players brought over in trades will be high profile for a couple of games. Rookies will play in anonymity for a few months because they are not as quickly recognized on the ice and there is little known about them. Newspapers, television, and magazines all suffer from the same focus on celebrities. Over all, a good job in Kootenay.

Just asking if he was new and inexperienced. Why be offended, all you anonymous people.

If someone walked up to you in person and asked you if you were "new" to your job, no big deal. If someone walked up to you and asked you if you were "inexperienced" in your job, would that be appropriate? Anonymous or not, the name NetListener is no less anonymous.

Hollick arrived here the second year, the first year we had i believe his name was kurt frasier. He moved to kamloops because of the uncertainty of the Ice staying in Cranbrook at that time. I think he is still one of the best play by play callers in the league. Hollick is good in my opinion, not bad but not great.
