i think the ridiculous selection of Pattison ahead of Hoggard at Headingley last summer possibly had more impact than initially intended.
It showed to Vaughan that the selectors had different views to him on Hoggys ability but it also showed to Hoggy that his chances of an England recall were actually miles away.
You always thought that Hoggy would bowl through a brick wall with Vaughan as skipper and some of that must be in the way Vaughan treated him and got the best out of him - shame the selectors and more importantly Mags and Moxon cannot quite achieve the same - is it down to the decline of Hoggy as a bowler or how he is being managed? |
