In the light of Sanderson's début last week, I just thought it might be worth pointing out how previous pace bowlers have fared in their first county championship match.
Bill Bowes took 0 for 19 and didn't bowl in the second innings;
Freddie Trueman took 0 for 16 and 0 for 27;
Chris Old didn't bowl until the second innings, when he got 0 for 8 off three overs.
History doesn't record whether any of these performances were followed by calls to sack the captain, coach or committee, though I suspect they weren't.
It occurs to me, btw, that the Oval is generally thought to be a better track for tall, bouncy bowlers than for the skiddier variety. On that basis, the move to Hannon-Dalby seems sensible.

Would be a strange day in Yorkshire if there wasn't a call to sack at least one of the three, and even if there wasn't a call, it wouldn't stop two of the other three plotting to get rid of the other.
