According to a general cricket forum I also inhabit the 2009 fixtures are delayed because of the problems of who England will be playing in May..... as usual England is more important that thr county game ... dont they realise that we need to get the Scarborough b&b booked ASAP
I heard that rumour as well. the fixtures are normally out by now but until they pencil in the test match days and dates for May they can not sort out the county fixtures. I assume this is due to test match venues being unavailable for that county to have a home match that week.
Next summer will be my first in retirement, so no having to book days off in advance. Every match every day next summer. I can sympathise with supporters wanting to book B&B`s, it`s not good enough leaving them waiting.
A few years ago we left it until early December to book Scarborough (one of us was having 'problems' getting time off work) & we only get into Trafalgar Square for one game.
A new statement on the club website says that now that the West Indies tour dates are confirmed, the county fixtures will be confirmed 'within the next month'!
Totally unacceptable for supporters wanting to book holidays or B&B`s. If it is anything like the place I work at, there are no holidays left available for next year by now. Once again the members and supporters of the counties have been kicked in the teeth by the ECB. When will the 2009 diaries be out -in the middle of February? Luckily I retire in March next year so no problems for me but it must be a massive problem for 99% of the supporters.
As 99% of the county fixtures are unaffected by the international matches, and then only in terms of venue, it is not acceptable for the ECB to have delayed the announcement of the county programme for so long.
The dates for the West Indies tour were confirmed yesterday. Anyone with a calendar and a brain could have finalised the dates within hours, but it will take the ECB 15 days!
I got a further reply on CoU from James Buttler, who's the Yorks 'comunications manaager' (p.s. Thanks Mr Womble for his quick reply)
The ECB send the fixtures to all of the counties first dp - the counties are given a small window to suggest sensible changes and then the ECB redraft accordingly. That process is much reduced this time due to the fact we are well into December. The date you refer to is when Alan Fordham expects to get the consultation draft to counties. The later date Kate refers to is when the fixtures have been agreed and are made public.
At least we play the best side in the competition early when we historically are at our best. For the past few seasons we have played like world beaters till the end of April then gone downhill fast.
Very happy that the Scarborough fixtures have been split.... but are worried about the July fixture. On Sun 19th Jul we play Durham in a 20/20. Monday is a 'dead day'. Fianlly we play Notts in the championship from Tue 21st to Fri 24th .... BUT the FPT final at Lords is on Sat 25th .... so if either us or Notts get there the game could be moved to be Mon - Thur.
Glad that Old Trafford is Fri-Mon but dispointed all of Worcester, Taunton & Rose Bowl are Tue to Fri ... we enjoy our weekends away.
On a personal note, one of my relatives has booked a wedding on the Saturday of the Roses match at Headingley. Very unfortunate in my first year of retirement when I can attend every game.
Bizarre arrangements for the pro-40 fixtures. 4 of the 8 matches are mid-week and the final group match is followed 3 days later by the qf`s. The groundsmem will have 3 days to prepare a pitch and the marketing men will have 3 days to promote, print and sell the tickets.
Retirement is obviously affecting you Stu. It's the FPT that's worrying. The final group game is Wed May 20th (at the HOval) with the Quarter Final scheduled for Sat 23rd May. The Pro 40 is a simple League
Maybe we can beat Lancs in 3 days and you can go to the wedding. Alternatively, maybe they could move it to St. Michael's Church in Headingley, during lunch, and you can nip out for the ceremony.

According to someone on a 'general' cricket forum in 2009 there 10:45 starts the FPT (back from noon) and slightly more sensible Pro40 starts (1 instead of 1.45).
Can someone 'in the know' please confirm of deny this prett please. Personally I hope both are correct as they make life (& more importantly travel home) much easier
For those members living in the South of England there is not much of an incentive to be a member. There are no matches in any of the four competitions against Glamorgan, Kent or Middlesex - and only one against Essex, and that is at Scarborough.
Yes, thats true - and if Yorkshire had slipped into the Second Division of the Championship, they would only be playing Durham 5 times, and not seven, next year !
Just as importantly if Yorks had followed some on this site & sacked Deon Kruis we'd probably have lost to Northants in the Pro 40, not been promoted & only played Durham 4 times. I still have problems believing we won that game ... & I was there !!
Scarborough Cricket Club are hoping to stage a special benefit match on July 18 for Yorkshire skipper Anthony McGrath against a side captained by former Tykes captain Darren Lehmann.
