Emmott Robinson was a true Yorkshire character, and epitomized what it was to be a Yorkshire cricketer in the 1920's...A few quotes about ER:
Keighley local history site...
"Emmott Robinson played cricket for Yorkshire as an all-rounder from 1919 to 1931 and was regarded as being 'the epitome of Yorkshire-ness'. He never played in a test match but if character and determination had counted he would have been an ever-present in an England side which wasn't short of talent."
Neville Cardus noted...
"I imagine that the Lord one day gathered together a heap of Yorkshire clay and breathed into it and said, 'Emmott Robinson, go and bowl at the pavilion end for Yorkshire.' Years later Robinson remarked, "I reckon Mr Cardus invented me."
