Can't personally see any connection between Dan Brown and literature, but I do feel for the poor old journalists who have to turn this stuff out. Rider Hoggard indeed. Does he open with Hans Christian ("Jimmy") Anderson?
There could, of course, have been a stronger Yorkshire connection here, as the Bronte sisters originally published their work using the pseudonym "Bell"(Emily was Ellis Bell, Charlotte was Currer Bell; can't remember the others).
Not sure whether this is more or less of a waste of time than arguing about Yorkshire's openers for next season. I suspect there's not much in it.
For those genuinely interested in good literature for its own sake, could I recommend The Reluctant Fundamentalist by Mohsin Ahmed (not off-topic: there are two mentions of cricket in it). |

Missing the obvious one here
Geoff (Rosie) Boycott - think she used to be the editor of the Guardian or Observer
Graham (Robert Louis) Stevenson
Swallow(s) and Amazons
and I am sure there must be several OLD LOVE stories that we could count as well

A neat summary of most of Jim's playing career.. |

Good one Steve. Some of your posts bring to mind a song by a band I can't remember (Bonzo Dog?) but the song is called:
There Ain't Half Been Some Clever Bastards. |

Be honest.
You didn't just think of that lot...
That must have taken several hours and a lot of beer at some point..
Inpired dp. very inspired...
There was a quiz on TMS the other day. You had to construct a team of England players (post 1980) who's christian names and surnames began with the same letter.
I heard the quiz being set - but missed the answers..
The only one I could think of was Graham Gooch as opener...
Did anyone hear the rest? |

Steve ... it took about 20 minutes & there was zero beer involved ... but if you sat anywhere near me at Headingley you'd understand that rubbish like this comes easy to some of us |

Graham Gooch
Martyn Moxon
Chris Cowdrey
Matthew Maynard
Martin McCague
What about people like RT Robinson? And would 'Freddie' Flintoff count? Conversely, what about RC 'Jack' Russell?
So many questions... |

Thats most impressive!
Nicknames were outlawed - but the wicketkeeper was RC Russell.
The spinner was Pat Pocock.
Have we got a full team yet..? |

Tim did not play for England (although none of you have pointed this out to me) and its his injury prone son Chris who has played recently and therefore is not eligible for the team - apologies on my part | |
