I've heard that Chris Allinson may be leaving the club for a private industry job. I hope its not true as I've been very impressed with his progress in the Academy.
it would appear as though this is the case based on comments posted elsewhere.
If so, very disappointing but good luck to him. I am sure he can make some decent money as a club pro for Marske to add to his apprenticeship although I would have preferred him to return as an amateur to Guisborough where my loyalties lie.
Sounds similar to another ex Guisborough talented youngster a few years back, Stewart Hutton who gave up the pro game with Durham to work in industry. Both very talented opening left handed batsmen who decided to pursue other options rather than make cricket the be-all and end-all of their lives.
Now is not the time to be starting a job in industry, unless it's for KPMG. If I could speak to Allinson I would suggest sticking with cricket for another year, to see if he can get closer to breaking into the 1st XI, and then review his options a year from now.
But Stewart Hutton was the director of cricket at the school I attend, Scarborough College, between September 2005 to July 2007. Although he was seen before his arrival as a good appointment and with his decent first class record, his future definitely does not lie in coaching! He hardly talked or gave advice. But he will be remembered at the school as an amazing catcher of a cricket ball, able to easily pocket a ball coming from 90 mph from the bowling machines 6 metres away, amazing staff and students! I believe he is now continuing his cricket coaching "up north".
