Notts - second favourites in the CC with many pundits - have put up 500+ against Worcestershire. Two 90's and a century.
Lancs and Sussex are in a bowler's contest at Hove, with Lancs on 26-2 after bowling Sussex for 289. Hoggie's chances of getting back in the Test side were dealt a further blow as Anderson takes 6 wickets.
Anderson's 11 wickets against Sussex certainly gives him the edge over Hoggy in terms of a Test recall. Hopefully, Hoggy can get back in the frame with an inspired performance in Durham's second innings. And MV has done himself no good so far with the bat, so a century might be just the ticket in our second innings. Here's hoping one or the other or both) come off. I think one of them will have to if we are to save this match.
i don't think Hoggy was ever going to get an England recall at the expense of Anderson.
Jimmy has been our best seam bowler for the last year with
1 Flintoff injury prone
2 Harmison patently out of form and inconsistent
3 Sidebottom now past his best and not able to recover from injury
4 Broad showing promise but not yet delivering
5 Jones broken down again
6 Khan hopelessly out of his depth
7 Mahmood and Plunkett yet to deliver for their counties since being left out by England
8 Pattison being outbowled by Broad in current match and going back to roofing
Plenty of room for a Hoggy recall in my view but like Vaughan he has to deliver for Yorkshire consistently in the LVCC first.
