I'm in two minds. On the one hand I'm sick and tired of all the controversy surrounding his signing, his lack of full-time availability during the English season, his tendency to get injured, and the fact he rarely produces as a front-line bowler. On the other hand we need an overseas player to compete with the strongest sides; and he is an asset in the limited overs matches.
When Mr Regan announced that Rana would be here by the deadline at the members forum a groan went round the room ... some members are also claiming that the players also aren't too happy either
Now that he's definitely on his way (or here?) let's welcome Rana to Yorkshire and hope he does well. As far as I can glean from CricInfo, he's played 3 first-class matches this year (all in February), for the Water And Power Development Authority in Pakistan. In 3 matches (5 innings) he took 14 wickets at 18.42 each, with a best of 5 for 37.
His 5 analyses are
17-7-37-5
24-5-70-1
15-3-38-3
18-4-42-3
22-3-71-2
In 3 innings batting he scored 110, 0 and 2.
For Yorkshire last year he got 16 wickets at 37.87 in 7 matches.
