I realise there is another thread but this momentous news surely deserves a fresh one, amazing how the deadline did the trick eh?

Let's hope he can produce a bit more this season

I'm in two minds

April 30 2009, 9:27 PM

I'm in two minds. On the one hand I'm sick and tired of all the controversy surrounding his signing, his lack of full-time availability during the English season, his tendency to get injured, and the fact he rarely produces as a front-line bowler. On the other hand we need an overseas player to compete with the strongest sides; and he is an asset in the limited overs matches.

When Mr Regan announced that Rana would be here by the deadline at the members forum a groan went round the room ... some members are also claiming that the players also aren't too happy either

A Yorkshire welcome

May 1 2009, 8:31 PM

Now that he's definitely on his way (or here?) let's welcome Rana to Yorkshire and hope he does well. As far as I can glean from CricInfo, he's played 3 first-class matches this year (all in February), for the Water And Power Development Authority in Pakistan. In 3 matches (5 innings) he took 14 wickets at 18.42 each, with a best of 5 for 37.
His 5 analyses are
17-7-37-5
24-5-70-1
15-3-38-3
18-4-42-3
22-3-71-2

In 3 innings batting he scored 110, 0 and 2.

For Yorkshire last year he got 16 wickets at 37.87 in 7 matches.

He looked a bit rusty in yesterday's FPT match. I hope he improves/ We need him.

You wouldn't know it from today's TEAM performance, but Rana certainly gives us some middle order heft with the bat in the OD format.
