not sure if its a record but I am sure its not done the lad a great deal of good. Some stability, consistent management and a regular set of friendly faces around him would help him settle in to the new season more speedily.
Instead he plays in some meaningless warm up games with a bunch of blokes he will be opposing most of the season.
Would you rather he was playing for The Rajasthan Rudeboys,or The Mumbai Massive, which could well be the case this time next year if he does not recieve The International regognition his talent deserves before very long.
Well if he played for an IPL team he would presumably get to bowl 4 overs per game and in most games get a bat. He would have the same team mates around him with the same coaching set up.
What Adil needs at the moment is consistent advice from someone he trusts and respects. The problem with playing for a variety of teams is that every coach has their own ideas and sometimes they can conflict.
Of course I hope the MCC, Lions and England set ups have similar coaching plans and methods (is this a big assumption?) but with all the changes in the England back office you never know.
In response to the first post, playing for 4 different teams in consecutive matches may not have been unusual in the 1950's and 60's with all the Festival cricket at the end of the season.
For example in 1954 Frank Tyson played consecutively for Northamptonshire, North (v South), England XI (v Commonwealth XI) and then for MCC at the start of their 1954/5 Australian Tour.
I expect some Yorkshire players in that period may be found to have done something similar.
Once, in the mid-80s, I played for six different teams on six consecutive days, including a church team (I'm an atheist), a Conservative club (I'm NOT a conservative), a residents' association (I wasn't a resident of the area in question, though my GP, who was, was actually playing for the opposition!), a team from Cardiff University (with which I have no connections) and the third team at Kings Heath cricket club (where Yorkshire played last week), of which I wasn't a member. I can't quite remember, but I suspect I turned out in the same kit all week.
More seriously, I don't think the variety is necessarily a problem for Rashid. You do have to concentrate on your own game when you're switching about like that and it may make you more self-reliant.
