Lots of national coverage on the Moxon-fan imbroglio. What are your thoughts? Who was the "fan?"

The Times

BBC Sports

The Telegraph

The Guardian

The Yorkshire Post

not guilty

i was not at the game so i have an alibi, but i was guilty of shouting at the balcony in the 4 day game as we blocked our way out of the bonus point. unfortunately they were all holed up in the hidden depths and the message did not get through. i hope moxon had hard words with his team as well as the spectator.

also not quilty

It was not I, and did not see or hear the incident. As long as there was no verbal abuse or bad language on either side, the member has every right to state his case and MM has every right to give his viewpoint. As long as it did not cross over any lines it is no problem. Unfortunately, the details of what was alledged as happening and what actually happened are entirely different.

I was sat at the front of the South Stand balcony, directly over the players' balcony, and witnessed the initial exchange of words. Then Moxon caught up with the 'fan' and had a lengthy discussion towards the end of the South Stand. I think that the episode is best forgotten, though I will post the facts on here if I read any untruths (like the allegation that Moxon said that we were the best one-day team in the country - which he did not say).

My view is that any customer has the right to complain about a service they have paid for. What is not acceptable is for the customer to shout his comments from a distance. He could easily have walked up the steps to the edge of the balcony and politely asked Moxon if he could have a chat about the team's performance. Instead he shouted his opinion from a distance. I hope that the individual concerned has formally apologised for his unacceptable behaviour.

irate fans

to some extent the spectator who had a verbal altercation with Moxon is no different to the many fans who come on here and complain about things - the only difference with the bloke on Monday is that he got his message through to Moxon directly and immediately and as a result he got a quick response.

Whilst Stewart Regan or James Buttler or Kate Edge sometimes comes on the WRF to put us right on things (which is welcomed), i have not seen Moxon do this. Perhaps he does not have the internet yet?

i don't see the need for either to apologise - both were disappointed and both are passionate and ultimately want the same - success for YCCC on the pitch. A heated exchange in the heat of the moment.

No foul language was used - compare this to the abuse heaped on football managers every week.

Indeed

i remember being at Hove a couple of years ago where we were absolutely shocking. A few of us gathered in front of the pavillion at the end and had a frank exchange with Martyn and the players. It did no harm at all - was passionate but civilised - and i realised for the first time that the players genuinely do care as much as we do.
It would be great if martyn came on here occassionally - but I suspect he would be afraid of geting into the cycle of having to justify every single selection and decision. I think it would certainly be useful if he wrote more for the official website..
