Geoffrey at the Test

On the way home from work yesterday I had the pleasure of hearing Sir Geoffrey on the radio (Talksport possibly?) commentating on the Test. Not heard him in a long while but absolute quality. Started off by digging Tuffers in the ribs, then the banter started with the other commentators, before continuing with Geoffrey's astute comments on the day's play to that point.

I then got home, put Sky Sports on and had to put up with the bland observations of Nick Knight and Michael Atherton. To be fair to Athers, I don't mind him really, but compared to Sir G he just pales into insignificance. Apart from Charles Coalville, Nass to an extent and Bob Willis (a poor mans negative Geoffrey) none of them come close.

Generally I think Sky puts on a good show for their sports programmes, but I can't believe they haven't bent over backwards to get the very best in the business with Sir G. A real waste that he is not on live television, although I guess now I will be listening more to the radio this summer.

I agree, Boycott is now the best in the business. He knows the game and is absolutely forthright. What more could you ask for? His thoughts on England's Ashes chances:
