Yorkshire vs Derbyshire
Start time: 2:30 Chesterfield
PREVIEW: A shake-up would seem to be in order after consecutive thrashings at the hands of Lancashire. A third loss on the trot would be a body blow to Yorkshire's chances of advancing in the T20 Cup, thus victory against second place Derbyshire is more or less essential. In the corresponding fixture last season, Yorkshire edged Derbyshire 11 runs.
One way or the other, it is time for some inspired selection policy, and for veterans such as McGrath (15.33 batting average), Naved (6.00) and Pyrah (8.67) to do something special. In terms of injuries, Brophy is still day-to-day.

Stats & Trivia: The highest Twenty20 partnership for Yorkshire is 124 by Ian Harvey & Phil Jaques for the second wicket against Derbyshire at Headingley in 2005
Next Match : June 2 | Twenty20: Yorkshire vs. Durham (Headingley Carnegie)
I notice some bookies are now offering 25 to 1 against Yorkshire winning the Twenty20. The best odds I could find were 14:1 against with SKYbet.
Yorkshire is still being tipped for 5th place in the CC by most of the bookies, with Notts and Durham being hot favourites. Personally, I'd be happy if Yorkshire could finish as high as 5th in the Championship: the team seems somewhat demoralized in all competitions at the moment.
Why can't Rashid play for Yorkshire today? England doesn't play its first ICC World T20 match until June 5th. Surely, it would be to England's advantage to have him play some "warm-up" matches before the ICC tournament, given that he's only played one T20 so far this season.
The more I see of the way the ECB literally takes "ownership" of any player it wants, the more ridiculous this system seems. And the worse part of the Rashid call-up is that he is very unlikely to play any T20 matches for England anyway?
Why don't the county cricket administrators stand up and fight this sort of nonsense?

If we can shift either (or both) of Law and Hinds, we are in with a great chance. But, in the end, it will likely depend on the batting line-up we put out. Hopefully, McGrath is going to be a little more creative that regard.
A VERY winnable match. Given the modest Derby total, I don't think McGrath will tinker with the line-up. Our bowlers came through, now its up to our beleaguered batsmen. A MUST win, in my opinion.

And a much more well-behaved and respectful crowd than you saw at Headingley. Too many drunken louts in Leeds, I'm afraid. Is it a Yorkshire characteristic? You'll need to deal with that cricket scum, or you'll lose the families.
Now that's more like it and with Andrew Gale as the man-of-the-match with a splendid 79 not out . Also, it's great to see Naved back in the groove with two wickets and a nifty 20 not out and two massive sixes. A great all round performance by the team.

I'm pretty sure that quite a few of the spectators on Friday night weren't actually fans of the cricket at all, and used the match as an excuse to a) get drunk, b) invade the pitch, c) dress like an attention-seeking moron, or, above all d) try to ruin the atmosphere for the people who actually understand what's happening on the pitch.
Thankfully I don't go to test matches so I won't be subjected to it again.
I had the misfortune of sitting in the Pavilion temporary seats on Friday night, next to about 15 Man City fans who hung a huge flag over the side of the stand facing the members' stand. They drank more in 3 hours or so than you would care to imagine.
I spoke to a couple of friends afterwards about the whole evening and felt that it was a combination of things that caused the disturbances:
Friday night idiots on the beer!
A derby match (scheduled for a Friday night after work - not clever!)
The end of the football season and nothing else to watch live
Half-term
End of university exams
Sunshine!
Many people off work with their kids
I agree that it was not a cricket audience - many of the so-called supporters, including the City fans, spent the whole match talking, chanting and standing with their backs to the cricket or participating in ridiculous drinking games.
I really feel that it's time to stop serving beer whilst play is in progress.

Where I was sat today, there was quite a bit of banter and chanting going on between both sets of fans. All good natured stuff, but it would have been interesting to see how it would have gone if it had been a full day.
As for the cricket, it was my first experience of going to go a T20 game and have to say I wasn't impressed with it - over before it began. I'd much rather watch cricket for the full day.

The downside of stopping serving beer is that those people who can drink a pint or two without being complete w**kers get punished because others can't handle their drink or drink too much of it.
I was also sat near the Man City fans on friday - probably better than in the west stand, but I'm not sure I could describe it as "friendly banter" going on. Was the east stand a 'free for all' for that match? I didn't see any checking of membership cards.
I was hoping events on the pitch would shut them up, but that didn't happen either.

A pleasure to be at Queen's Park yesterday.
One of the most attractive grounds in the country, limited facilities admittedly but the contrast between yestrday's match when the majority were there to enjoy the cricket, and last Friday at Headingley was clear.
Yorkshire responded much better too, without the distractions, and produced a thoroughly proffessional performance.

To answer Chris J - it looked like anyone was allowed in the East Stand yesterday as a steward just waved people through without appearing to care; I had my card ready but it didn't really matter.

You certainly needed your members card to get into the long room before the game .... there were people on wach entrance checking tickets ... & the ice creams were £1.60 (I asked but didn't buy!!).
On point ... why don't they give pass outs before the game ... most members are used to dumping bags then having a walk .... especiallyanyone who has to 'travel' so gets to the ground 'early'. Or is it that 'they' are frightened that some of us will go outside to putchase food/ice creams instead of the overpriced goods on offer inside the ground
