Yorkshire vs Durham
Riverside
Start time: 5:30
PREVIEW: A surprise loss to last-place Notts, has the Tykes under even greater pressure to beat Durham at Riverside. It now looks like at least two wins from their last three group games will be necessary to move on to the quarter finals.
Yorkshire captain Anthony McGrath hopes to return to the side after recovering from a minor car accident, which should add to a side that appeared to be a batsmen short against Nottinghamshire.
TEAMS:
Yorkshire: (Probables) Andrew GALE, Jacques RUDOLPH, Michael VAUGHAN, Anthony McGRATH (capt), Gerard BROPHY (wk), Adam LYTH, Rana NAVED, Tim BRESNAN, Ajmal SHAHZAD, Azeem RAFIQ, Deon KRUIS, Richard PYRAH, Steve PATTERSON and Adil RASHID.

Other than McGrath coming back in and Lyth sitting, what changes are planned? We were a batsmen short in the last match, so why not bring in Bairstow and drop an ineffective one day bowler like Rashid or Rafiq?
Brophy stated prior to the Notts match that we only need to win one of the last 4, Rudolph thought we needed to win 2 out of the last 4. I personally feel we now need to win all our remaining three matches to qualify. Another tough one tonight as Durham have David warner playing for them. WE def do not need 6 bowlers and only 4 batsmen and I would bring Mags and Taylor in for Lyth and Rashid. Throwing Bairstow in is probably to early at this stage in his development.
David Warner blasted a quickfire 50 for Durham last night, their batting is VERY aggresive and it will be a case of getting early wickets or we could be on the end of a massive hammering.
As well as only having 4 batsmen one of those has scored just 7 runs from his last 4 Twenty/20 innings. Taking Gale out of the equation the other two have not done that well either.
From the squad named I'd go for a batting order of: Brophy, Vaughan, Rana, Rudolph, Gale, Lyth, Bresnan, Rashid, Rafiq, Shazad, Kruis. I'd also prefer the option of having Bairstow in the squad to perhaps play instead of one of the spinners.
Andrew GALE, Jacques RUDOLPH (capt), Michael VAUGHAN, Gerard BROPHY (wk), Adam LYTH, Rana NAVED, Tim BRESNAN, Ajmal SHAHZAD, Azeem RAFIQ, Deon KRUIS, Richard PYRAH, Steve PATTERSON, Joe SAYERS and Adil RASHID.
from the 15 I would go for Sayers, Gale, Naved, Vaughan, Rudolph, Lyth, Brophy, Bresnan, Shazad, Rafiq, Kruis mainly because we do not need 6 bowlers.
Perhaps it has something to do with the fact he that outside of Lyth and Wainwright (injured) Pyrah has the lowest T20 strike rate on the team, the third lowest T20 batting average (2 ducks in 3 at bats), and hasn't taken a single wicket in the T20 this season. And other than Rafiq and Rashid he allows the most runs per over in the T20.
David WARNER, Phil MUSTARD, Kyle COETZER, Dale BENKENSTEIN, Ian BLACKWELL, Will SMITH, Gordon MUCHALL, Gareth BREESE, Ben HARMISON, Mitchell CLAYDON, Neil KILLEEN and Scott BORTHWICK.
* Pyrah in for Lyth.
* Shahzad in for McGrath
* Apparently McGrath will miss at least one more T20 match.
* This is the last match for Bressy and Rashid's before going off to the England camp.
A win today sets up the big one on Friday. I think we'll sneak it again today, we usually just about get there against these lot, that will then put us on 10 points from 8 games and that is a good position to be in with only 2 games to go.
What a brainless start. Naved and Gale should be taken aside and given a good bollocking. And I'll be glad to see the backside of Rana. He's been a constant distraction, since he came into the team. I'll bet along with McGrath, Rashid, and Bressy, Rana won't play in the Leicstershire match.
Methinks the Yorkshire season is completely unwinding now. This team needs both a heart, brain and a confidence transplant. And some of you were pushing for Rudolph to be made captain. We are on to a recodclow score in the T20.
Well I really hope we get bowled out for a pathetic total like we seem to be heading for. The team selection is a disgrace. Going into a match with just 3 specialist batsmen is unbelievable.
Awful start with the run outs but something needs to be done about Durham and their pitiful excuse for a wicket, the only reason they won the County Championship last year was their poor wickets that you could only muster 120 runs on, think Kent got relegated because of it as well. Anyway onwards to Grace Road and the win or bust game.
Missed the mayhem last evening as playing cricket. What a shambles. 3 batsmen and 7 bowlers, why the heck do you need 7 bowlers in any match. Rudolph appears to be an even worse captain than Mags, only 1 over for Naved who is our best twenty/20 bowler by a country mile. I think the wheels have really come of big time now.
Why did we need Rana to open last night when we were hardly chasing a big score? we had Rudolph and Vaughan at 4 and 5 in the order but they may as well have been opening the batting after the top 3 committed suicide.
Rana is a pinch hitter (when it is needed). He is not an opening bat or even an all rounder.
Brophy and Gale together are the wrong combination as too similar - with 2 techincally gifted batsmen at 4 and 5 we seem to have no idea on the right batting order for these short games.
Before anyone tells me its to take adavantage of the powerplay - it backfired spectacularly last night.
And as for the bowling - it looked like one of those games where everyone got a couple of overs to make sure they took part.
I agree about the strange team selection. Too many bowlers in there because they can slog a bit. Pick batsmen to get runs, not bowlers. Lyth, Taylor and Bairstow should have played (or at least two of those).
Rana only bowled one over because he picked up an injury I think (going by Cally's commentary, which was not as sharp and descriptive last night as usual).
In all competitions our win/loss ratio is about equal, so let's not get too despondent.
One minor correction ... the picture is the crowd leaving after we lost to Somerset in the championship ... most of the people pictured don't attend 20/20 matches.
Sorry to have to disagree with George ... but the picture looks just like Yorkshire members leaving the Long Room after a rain break .. I'm sure some of them sit behind me in the N.E. Stand
