It won't have escaped many of us that the form of Jacques Rudolph has fallen away dramatically recently. This can happen to any player at any time - however I'm sensing that things are rotten in the state of Yorkshire. (Approaches to Hoggard and Shahzad by Worcester; Mcgrath's continued indisposition; a spineless capitulation at the Riverside, don't make me feel optimistic for the immediate future.) Jacque's own position is not clear given his ambitions to play for S.A. and the possible revision of Kolpak protocols. I wonder if this is having an impact on his performances?
I'm feeling quite panicky at this moment. Somebody reassure me!! Tell me that Yorkshire is not imploding and that all is sunny on planet Headingley.
i am not bothered for more than 5 minutes about 20/20 results, but we need to get the batting sorted out in time for next weeks championship match. rudolph needs to bat at 4. where he may plunder runs when the new ball has been seen off.
Some cricketers can switch from one format to another without much trouble. Others find it difficult to adjust. I believe that Rudolph falls into the second camp. Once the Twenty20 nonsense is out of the way (for better or worse) the rest of the season is dominated by the 4-day game, with just a few Pro40s. I predict that Rudolph's form will return.
