Durham, after bowling Worcestershire out for 193, are in lots in trouble themselves at 23-3 with three ducks.

Notts at 359-9 are on top against Lancashire. Sidds is 31*.

The women have put up a competitive 259-6(50) against Oz, with Sarah Taylor clubbing a 120 in 120 balls. Come on England!

Bowling depth

For Durham no Onions, no Harmy = no problem. Plunkett gets a 6fer.

Durham wicket

Usual "helpful to bowlers" wicket at Chester-le-street, and I will wager that as usual they will not get any points docked for a poor wicket.

At this rate they won't need docking points, they'll lose the match............59/6

I can't believe we want to punish a side for producing a result pitch yet featherbeds like Taunton are described as a 'good' wicket.

And we wonder why 4 day County Cricket isn't bringing in the masses.

On a seperate note if Worc do win, against one of the country's strongest sides, it will certainly drag us back down into the mire.

Lets hope for a decent rearguard batting display from our fellow northerners.

Unfortunately, there will almost certainly be a decision in the Worcestershire-Durham match. A win by Durham would put them so far ahead of the Tykes in the table, that only a mathematician would rate Yorkshire's chances of winning the Championship. A win for Worcestershire, and they'd be back in the battle to avoid demotion.

Fortunately, Worcestershire didn't earn any batting points in the match.

And Durham's tail has wagged somewhat reducing any first innings lead Worc might have.

Result wickets

July 1 2009, 2:09 PM

Nothing against results wickets as they are far better than the Taunton wickets but Durham have gone to far the other way. Nearly all their matches at Chester-le-Street are finished in 2 and a half days depriving spectators of cricket to watch and giving them an unfair advantage. Lets hope they both lose and get points docked.

Stu, if Durham lose, Worc win and dig themselves out of trouble.

I'm certainly rooting for a Durham win here.

Any delusions we have about winning the CC are already over anyway.

Durham are getting back on top in their match, and have Worcestershire at 68-3 in their second innings.

Notts had a lead of 113 in the first innings vs Lancs and should (weather permitting) win that one.

The Lions have a good start in their innings against Australia with 71-0.

Ever the optimist..

July 2 2009, 2:11 PM

I want Notts and Durham to both lose because I think we can still catch them both - especially with a maximum points win against Somerset!
Looks like Monty has done enough to get selected next week - which should mean we get Rashid back for a while. Unless he gets picked for some other meaningless international friendly fixture somewhere or other...

Can't believe people are talking about catching Durham and Notts, folks we need to be realistic. 3rd bottom is our aim this season and it's gonna be a real struggle to get it.

Ah but Loiner...

You're missing all the fun. I expect us to win the Championship every year, and i continue to believe this until I know that it is no longer mathematically possible....
If we win tomorrow, and beat Durham next week, we're in with a chance....

(Tongue only partially in cheek.)

Great to see Worc lose again, hopefully they will take one of the relegation spots.

As for the Durham wicket, this match is an example of why its good. There is a positive result and a close, exciting match considering its the best and worst teams in the division.

What's not to like? Not much of an advantage to one side or the other, both have to play on it. And if Durham have a better seam bowling depth all power to them.

Durham are safe as S(l)urrey are in Division 2 .... yes I'm still unhappy about Scarborough in 2000.
