Sorry, I didn't 'miraculously' add a post box, but I'm glad it's fixed.

All you need now is something interesting to say.

Thread starting

July 3 2009, 10:10 AM

starting a thread can be quite tricky you know.

First you have to have an original idea that no one else has had or they will have started a thread before you.

Second you have to usually offer an initial opinion rather than just respond to someone elses opinion.

Third you have to accept that what you say may not meet with the agreement of everyone else so you need to be prepared for opposite views or a negative reaction to your post.

Fourth you have to accept the loneliness if no one responds to your thread...

Matthew Hoggards arse...

And you have to come up with a title that'll make people read it in the first place....
Even if it's totally irrelevant.

and there was me opening the post to see what you had to say about Hoggys posterior... shows it works.

Think we are safe for a few more hours on this one as have you noticed Cleasby does not tend to post in mornings?

I await with bated breath for his opening thread-starting post...

Shall we speculate on the thread title?

Good morning TC.
Whatever I say or don't say I always know that you'll be out there with a response.
Sadly beyond the travails of Yorkshire CCC,there appears very little you are capable of talking about, except perhaps England nicking all Yorkshire's best players.
I am infamous for my prolifigate postings on many other cricket message boards, which if your interst extended beyond The Broad Acres you'd know.
Some of my threads are legendary and extend to hundreds abd even thousands of posts,if you care to look.
I,ve been banned from some places because many object to my posts, where subjects are far beyond their understanding.
Tell me what you'd like to discuss and I'll gladly try and indulge you TC.

sometimes it's good not to take yourself so seriously. I'll freely admit that I'm a pompous Vaughan-obsessed dullard..
I'm sorry if we were enjoying some levity at your expense...

Morning Cleasby.

of course you only think I post about Yorkshire and England nicking Yorkshires players as funnily enough the WRF is a Yorkshire cricket fans site.

Posting about my interests in music, other sport, business or whatever else would be of no interest whatsover to other posters I would expect to find on here. There are other outlets for these interests as you know.

I like your clever way of asking me to give you some ideas for what you should bring up on your new threads!

Anyway - are you at headingley for the seconds game today and if so does it look like we will be washed out?

I,ve no problem with levity at my exspense folks, and hopefully not lacking in a sense of humour.
Others tend to take me rather more seriously than I do myself sadly, which often leads to them getting rather upset, but no matter.
On other sites I use,e.g,Middlesex,Durham,Sussex, debate extends beyond the fortunes of thst county and encompasses cricket at all levels and in many different places.
I was unaware that such subjects were discouraged on here, and we dealt exclusively with the fortunes of the County Club.
TC,subjects far beyond cricket including The Arts and business are popular in other places, and often the subject of lively debate, try broadening your horizons.
I'll juat pop out and get the seconds score for you.
Well as you can probably see from your office window TC,it's tipping it down.
I,ve been here since 10.30 and Notts were 144-7 overnight chasing 218,not sure if they got out at all this morning, but do not fear I'll let you know if there's any further action.

i have a feeling if we go on much longer then other posters will soon be bored (except Steve perhaps...)

You tend to find that other county cricket sites need to discuss more than their county cricket team as they have much less heritage, controversy, fanbase etc than Yorkshire do.

Just out of interest, how do you know I do not post on other non-cricket related sites already? My horizons are quite broad enough thank you beyond the game of cricket - whilst I may not have the artistic literature or musical knowledge of the more erudite posters on here, I do enjoy a wide range of things beyond cricket and sport in general.

Anyway, that second team score please just so we can keep this threas Yorkshire cricket related...

Cleasby notes: "Others tend to take me rather more seriously than I do myself sadly, which often leads to them getting rather upset, but no matter. "

Frankly, Cleasby I can't think of anyone else who has ever posted here that takes themselves and their opinions more seriously than you do. A legend in your own mind, you are.

Shall we call the whole thing off then?
Or does TC want to carry on?

As George Gershwin might have said at a time like this: "Let's Call the Whole Thing Off."
