We keep saying we can't see us getting 20 wickets in a game and with no Rana, possible departures of Hoggy and Shahzad and Kruis also probably on his way out at the end of the summer it looks obvious to me where we need to recruit.

Looking at the second team i think the young batters could step up a level (Ballance, Root etc) but the young bowlers (non-spinners) have yet to convince me.

Van Jaarsveld's move to Lancashire was agreed in principle at the end of last season.
I see no reason for that arrangement to change,and fully excpect that move will be confirmed at the season's end.

is this permitted to 'tap up' a player over a year before he becomes available?

If it was Yorkshire I suspect we would have been up before the ECB for an illegal approach as we were with Hodgson and Adams from memory.

He's keen to join Lancs. and they are happy to have him.
There's only a problem if someone complains TC,and in the big wide world,deals are done like this all the time.
