Nothing and no one to blame today except maybe belief. We set an improbable score, they improbably went for it and improbably got it. Well done Somerset.
Could we have done anything different? Attack we had, probably not.
Had we batted on and on for a draw we'd have slated Moxon and McGrath even more.
Best to say we were just not good enough, and in general this season we have been just not good enough. Best to just take our division two medicine and then work out what we can do/what we can afford to do to make sure we come straight back up and never get in this position again.
Sad day for Yorkshire when the only excuse is we are not good enough.
Surely that's enough time for Moxon, Mags, Boycs or Regan to do something.
I agree we're mediocre and our huge run without a win is pretty dire but if the team give up before the half way point (and us not even in the relegation zone) then it doesnt deserve the few fans that bother to show up.
There is time to fix this. The question is do the people in charge have the ability do so.
Since there's been a lot of fuss in recent weeks about this record-run-without-a-win statistic, could I point out that the last time Worcestershire won a first division match was in August 2007. Warwickshire haven't won a first division match since early May 2007.
Stop playing with statistice Dews .... Worcs & Warwick were in Division 2 last season so couldn't win a Division 1 game. Both have won championship matches within the last 12 months. This season Worcester have lost every Championship game they've played against every county but Yorks
I'm not "playing with statistics". I didn't mention any statistics. I'm simply trying not to let my emotions cloud my thinking. Do you think I am so stupid as not to know that Worcs. and Warwicks. were in division 2 last season? That was precisely part of my point. The fact that they were is not down to some unjust penalty meted out to them, but the consequence of their own performances.
To slightly reform Dewsburian's point: Worcs have gone ten Division One matches without a win, the last one being (unfortunately) against Yorkshire. But that's the only one they've won in their previous 26 (twenty six) Division One games, and that's omitting two that were abandoned.
Warwickshire, meanwhile, match us on with their own win-less streak in the First Division: 18 games and counting. So we're not the only team with bad records
