According to Cricket archive

Willian Rhodes was born in Bradford on 4th Mar 1883 & died on 5th Aug 1941. He played 1 game for Yorks in 1911

The 'great' Wilfred Rhodes was born in Kirkheaton (just outside Huddersfield) on 29th Oct 1877 & died on 8th July 1973

So the fact should be about William ... but it is his death we are celebrating

I see that in his first match for Yorks Seconds, against Lancs Seconds, William Rhodes took 10 for 114, knocking off several batsmen of some ability -- including (twice) the great Earnest Tyldesley.

Guess he must have been one of those players of great promise, who ..... (where have I heard this before?).
