Yorkshire CCC cricket malaise

Does anyone else get the feeling that Yorkshire`s season has fizzled away? I`ve all but lost interest in a team that continues to flounder, throw away matches and fails to exploit winning positions. We will not win a trophy of any sort again this season, and now we face demotion. I`ve even stopped checking the WRF every day, like I used to.

Management don`t seem interested in improving the team, and now I see our captain may be crocked for the rest of the season. I don`t ever remember feeling this way about a team I have followed closely for nearly 10 years.

Is anyone else feeling the same way?

yes

I am feeling the same way. We are drifting slowly but surely to relegation amd everyone seems resigned to that fact. The players, the managers, the coaches, all the spectators and everyone associated with the club all appear to be thinking the same. It`s evident in the on-field body language, in the press statements and any utterances from the players.
It all just seems to be like a runaway train hurtling down track to division-twosville.
It will be an interesting team selection for our next match v Hants, will it be same as usual and another defeat or draw or will it be 5 or 6 new players and just perhaps a better performance. We have two options really -stick with the same players and get relegated or make some big chances and just maybe avoid relegation. Lets just try something (anything) rather than just drift into division two.

Yes we are drifting towards relegation ... but putting in 'lads' isn't the answer ... look what happened when we had a Hoggy & the kids as an attack at Tuanton .. people keep saing play Lyth .. but whenever Adam has played this season he's got out to the most awful shots. Dropping youngsters into a failing team could ruin a good talent.

The problem isn't that we have poor players ... just that the team is playing poorly .... what's needed is a 'pick me up'. Mr Moxon says tea, spirit is good .... this doesn't show in the field where we just have Hoggy's wind up.... don't get at the bloke, at least he's trying.

We have Stu's trip to Division Twosville and Dpessed ("Smells Like..") Tea Spirit..
I actually think we'll beat Sussex in Hove and engineer another unlikely escape.

Losing all interest, as we're not even playing attractive cricket or making any real effort in the 2nd innings to win a game. For the first time in 15 years or so, I didn't even bother going over to Scarbro' for a single day of the Notts game. Far more rewarding watching Bradford League cricket.

Does Yorkshire need a sports psychologist?

Maybe the team should hire a sports psychologist. I've rarely seen a team with lower morale and less self-confidence than the current Yorkshire side. They now seem to go into matches not expecting to win.

You have to wonder if Tony McGrath is the right type of captain for a team with such fragile self-belief.

Whilst I do think 'its better to burn out, than to fade away' I can't have 'tea' spirit as I don't drink the stuff .... at cricket its just litres of coffee
