a survey is on the official site, if we have issues with the club it gives a chance to express opinion. it does not cover playing issues though.

Indeed.

September 11 2009, 9:52 AM

I have taken the opportunity to do so.
I wonder if the results will be made public?
I wonder how many people will admit that the current Pavillion work has increased their enjoyment - I've found the ongoing crane activity endlessly fascinating....

What am I doing up at 4:40 in the AM (Aussie time?) Yorkshire cricket nightmares!

Many key questions not asked in the survey.

What about the website? Good points, weak points?
Where are the team averages? (First, second,Colts, etc.) A MAJOR OVERSIGHT!
Is the webcam going to be functional on a long term basis?
What happened to WRTV?
Is a valid overseas membership option going to be offered? A MAJOR ISSUE for the 1,00's of ex-pat cricket fans.
Will the radio broadcast issues be addressed and resolved?

Hi all, firstly I put the survey together and it is mainly about customer service and enjoyment at the ground. We were allowed 50 questions so I tagged a couple of communications questions on the end. If you ever have comments on comms then email me or phone me - happy to discuss anything you like - website, webcam or otherwise. I've tried to answer the questions posed above here...

Q What about the website? Good points, weak points?
A As I've said above email me or phone me - always interested in what people think as it is you we do things for. We are currently assessing where we go with our website so now is a good time to email me goods and bads on the current site so we can address any issues in the winter months.

Q Where are the team averages? (First, second,Colts, etc.) A MAJOR OVERSIGHT!
A They are on the site in the cricket archive section (found under Club History) - and in stats http://www.yorkshireccc.com/2009season1stxiplayersfixturesreports/statistics_2009/index.html) - this is one of the problems that we we will be addressing - over cumbersome navigation!

Q Is the webcam going to be functional on a long term basis?
A Now we seem to have it working (at last) the plan is to keep the webcam on a permanent basis as it helps with prospects of play as well as making people feel a bit closer to us all at Headingley Carnegie

Q What happened to WRTV?
A It is still there but we've had problems this year which will be resolved ahead of 2010. It has meant that the highlights have been hard to sort out for you. We will also be planning a number of other features for 2010 which should keep you happier. WRTV is a major long-term plan of mine and in 2010 you will see what it can do - we'll make it sing!

Q Is a valid overseas membership option going to be offered? A MAJOR ISSUE for the 1,00's of ex-pat cricket fans.
A Membership is being discussed at the moment. Obviously the change in domestic structure means a change in the Options Membership is required. Watch this space...

Q Will the radio broadcast issues be addressed and resolved?
A It will be resolved - even if it kills me. It has been addressed previously but this has been the most frustrating part of the job. The same company has provided the webcam and the radio stuff and I have been very frustrated. They appear to have sorted out the webcam and now I am badgering them about the radio gear. It will be sorted one way or another - rest assured.

If anyone else has any questions - that can be answered here post away and I will do my best to answer, or find you an answer. Don't ask me who the overseas player for next season will be though as I don't know yet!!!

All the best, James

fairness

September 14 2009, 9:14 PM

I've written a few things previously hinting at being less than satisfied wih some of the projects James has worked on, but fair play to the above answer.

Still think the website and 'options' programme needs work but, again, fair dos for the above post.

Note - when consulting about 'options' please widen beyond Stephen Mann and the 'members committee'!

A couple of questions for JB.....

September 14 2009, 9:34 PM

Hi James, happy to take you up on the offer regarding questions and hope you can assist with these :

1. With regards Members and International tickets - is there any chance for next season and beyond that Members can receive discounted prices to sit in the North East Upper ? This is where I watch all the Yorkshire games and in my opinion provides by far the best view in the ground (which also enjoys sunshine !). I've found it a big disappointment over the last few years that to get my Members discount, I end up in the East Stand - which whilst it has great facilities, it also has some very average views, especially if you are sat lower than half way (as I was for all 3 days of the Ashes this year). I strongly believe that Members should have the priority and privilege of being able to watch the big games with the best players from the seats with the best views.

2. Again regarding Membership - why does the club not disclose exactly how many Members it has AND a break down by category ? e.g. Full (Option 1,2,3 etc), Partner, Students, Retired, Mynahs, Tykes etc.
All the info must be stored on the database and therefore must be very simple to extract and publish ?

Oh, and just one final quick one - why do the club not publish attendance figures ? (possibly split by Members and non-Members ?). I do sometimes read them in the Yorkshire Post and am sure I've even heard them announced over the tannoy, but they don't seem to get recorded. (This is a subject that I know has been raised on here before).

Cheers
The Big Fish
