They are now housed in the lower section of the Rugby stand as it curls around to the original players pavilion. Almost likey a football ground executive box where tea, coffee and wine appears to flow all day long.
Eligibility, price etc?

I've ALWAYS wondered who this mysterious group are? Must be some sort of weird closed shop because they never advertise for new members - are they separate from the club in some weird way?
I've always wondered why they seem to have sole use of the the "old" pavillion. There must be facillities in there that could be opened up for more people - is this where Hutton's portrait ended up?
These will be the same people who buy debentures...
Anybody can join the group. It costs £990 per season. It is called the Executive Group. The cost can be found on the web site under membership option.

I doubt they'll be socialists, SteveC. Wouldn't interest you, so stick to the cheap seats and just put a bit of inverted snobery their way, eh?

Eh?

Er Thanks for that Gordon.
Thought you were busy elsewhere today?
No idea who rattled your cage - I was merely making the point that we seem to have a huge building there - most of which is never used ...

The ground is usually three quarters empty. Why 'open this up', denying a private facility to people who are willing and able to pay, thus reducing YCCC income for no purpose other than a desire for some sort of perverse equality?
Why do people like you and your mate seem to think there's something wrong with having a few bob? Where would I be without my 'expenses'?

Well.

Thanks for judging my entire political creed on the basis of a few hasty and light hearted remarks about a group which I previously knew nothing about...
There's nothing wrong with having a few bob. And there's nothing wrong about choosing to pay a bit more for better facillities. Whate irks me about this particular section of OUR membership is that i've never seen it promoted to a wider potential audience.
In all the literature I've received from the club and in all the issues of YCM, in all the leaflets on display in the Long Room, and in all the times I've been to Headingley or Scarborough, I've never seen any information about how I could choose to spend my cash to join this elite club.
I gather the information can be found on the website somewhere - but my perception (rightly or wrongly) is that this is a small elite club that doesn't want to be opened to the general hoi poloi - a self perpetuating clique that has power and influence beyond it's status.
Let me ask one question - is there anyone who contributes to this forum who is a member of the Taverners?
I also think - from a purely practical viewpoint - that this is a huge lump of property that should be being used for something and which could be earning us some money. Why are we doing member's lunches across the road in the bloody cricket school when we have the facillities within the actual ground?
This isn't socialist idealism. Just common sense.
my mate refers to it as the fat beast end, i always assumed it was a hospitality area. they certainly have a great view. probably future debenture holders
Agree in full Steve. Next year as well as having the old pavilion 90% unused we will have the new pavilion 100% unused during CC matches. Two "white elephants" stuck in the middle of Headingley.

Yes, hasty comments from you SteveC. They probably don't make themselves too well known to you as they don't want someone joining who calls them 'weird', even if you could afford it.
Actually, their name's on the building and they're on the YCCC websites, but don't let the facts get in your way. They probably don't slag off the team enough to draw many members from this forum.
Toodle pip, just off to fiddle the expenses, socialist style!

You can't win them all.
I've had a lovely day thanks.
