The official site has been advertising it as a top story for the last week - been temporarily relegated as so much else happening.
I am going across to take pics etc and will be updating the YCCC website throughout the day - due to meetings first thing at Headingley however this will be from early afternoon onwards.
Why isn't Craig White playing as captain?
Does anyone know what's happening with Craig - he's been a fantastic servant of our club for many years - and a personal favourite of mine!
If he's leaving or retiring - perhaps he could be given a game on Sunday in the Pro 40? I just think we have a chance to make our last game a bit more special...
Chris Taylor apparently has been told he has been dropped. I spoke to him last week at the friendly match against Leics 2nds.
Seems a very odd decision as he has excelled this year in the 1 day trophy including that 150 odd against Worcester and looking at cricinfo has a very good 1st team 1 day record on top.
Well done Yorkshire!
A great victory - clearly we have enormous strength in our seconds and academy....!
Perhaps the future is looking brighter than we might imagine!!!!
the end of the season is proving to be most exciting for us.
Academy, 2nds and now the first team winning a game in the CC and FPT.
the 2nd team did look quite inexperienced on paper with no Chalky, Taylor or Blain who will presumably have been regulars this season. Plus Bairstow, Rafiq, Wainwright with first team in view of our england cal ups.
Great news - well done lads - and against the Lankys as well!
Blain hasn't been a regular in the second XI. I think he may have played the odd game. The seam bowling's mainly been Lee (very successful), OHD, Sanderson, Patterson and Chadwick.
Superb game. well worth the journey and the freezing cold!
the pitch was very helpful towards the bowlers (spin especially) and it was obvious to anyone there that the lancs score of 143 was going to take some getting
Adam Lyth was looking well set before he was out and when Simon Guy went, Lancs were favourites in my book. But Jimmy Lee played a superb innings and a great game overall to see us over the finishing line.
Weird to see Scarborough CC with cars in it, no bar open at the top end and very few people there, but it has a beauty all of its own!
Warmest congratulations to the Second XI, who have given me more pleasure than the first this season, I must admit (and at rather less cost).
In listing second-team seamers earlier, I notice that I omitted Rich Pyrah, which was very remiss of me. Let's hope that Jimmy Lee now gets some more opportunities and that Oliver Hannon-Dalby can add some other victims to his only one in championship cricket, who is, I think, Mark Ramprakash. And good luck to Simon Guy, whatever he may choose to do in the future.
I'd like to send Simon my best wishes for the future too. I hope that he's made a full recovery from his recent illness and that he enjoys a long, healthy and prosperous life.
Oh - and congrats to the White rosebuds - even without Mr. White!
The nicest part of our triumph - loking at the photos - is the huge smile on Simon Guy's face! He's bourne adversity and illness with bravery and enormous courage and I'd like to wish him the very best for the future - whatever it may hold. I'm really thrilled that he was captain for the day and able to end his Yorkshire career on such a high!
