ANNOUNCEMENT| The White Rose Forum has a new Web address

As William Shakespeare (or was it Neville Cardus?) once said:

O be some other name!
What's in a name? That which we call a rose
By any other name would smell as sweet.

You may have noticed that we have a new web address:

whiteroseforum.co.uk

The new URL is obviously more logical, less confusing and easier-to-remember than the previous hodgepodge, and will be helpful in terms of keyword branding. It will almost certainly lead to increased traffic and make the White Rose Forum easier to find - especially for Yorkshire cricket fans who may not yet be familiar with our forum.

Ladies and gentleman, retrofit your bookmarks...and be sure to tell fellow Yorkshire cricket fans and White Rose Forum devotees.

Alex Roberts Owner/moderator, the White Rose Forum

PS: Through the miracle of a "re-direct" our old Web address will still get you to the White Rose Forum

I haven't seen a web address with @ in it before. I changed this to a dot, and got to the site - albeit with an advert bar at the bottom.

A typo corrected. It was my birthday yesterday (57-ish), and I haven't been the same since!

Cheers

Sold!

September 27 2009, 10:41 PM

I am "assured" that the banner ad at the bottom of the page is temporary. It's like a"sold" sign on a house and will hang around for awhile.

Good on you

September 28 2009, 12:36 AM

Congratulations. A very wise decision. I would expect our traffic to rise significantly.

I just emailed the new, easy-to-remember web address to 11 of my ex-pat Yorkshire cronies here in Oz. Others should do the same.

I wouldn't have dared send out the old address. They would have thought I was kidding.

Can WhiteRoseForum.Co.Uk T-shirts be far behind?

AJ - Oz

Good move. A far more logical web address, and very easy to market. I'm surprised it was still available.

RE: New WEB address

Needs making clear that the new address is

http://whiteroseforum.co.uk

and NOT

http://www.whiteroseforum.co.uk

as the second address appears to be for a different forum.

A very deft move. I too found the previous address impossible to remember. This should have a huge impact on traffic going forward.

Thanks for this. The old address was, shall we say: difficult to remember.

I too wlcome the more logical address (and hopefully the banner at the bottom will disappear soon as Alex suggested). But I can't understand all the comments about the old address being difficult to remember, as I put it in my 'Favorites' (sic) after the first time I visited the Forum.

agreed YC - in fact I have both in my favourites at the moment and the speed using the old address seems quicker than the new one!

You don't actually need "www" or "http" with most browsers: they are automatically assumed.

I fixed that little glitch so http://www.whiteroseforum.co.uk now works, but it's easier to type whiteroseforum.co.uk into your browser, since you go directly to the site.
