Moxon staying

Todays YP makes it pretty clear that Moxon is staying for next season but Mags captaincy under review.

if this is the case then at least its sorted out now so he can focus on improving the players we do have through the winter months - lets get the promising players a winter at an overseas academy or a summer in Australia/SA lined up for them to develop further and lets get the young fast bowlers fitter and stronger.

Apparently Moxon is on a one year rolling contract so to get rid of him now would mean paying him off for the next year and still paying for a replacement.

Lets hope Moxon has learnt lessons from this season and watched how Durham (who he should know well) have succeeded in terms of their playing squad, tactics, batting tracks and no-fear cricket. Also having a tactically astute captain.

If Moxon is staying then lets back him but I hope he also realises some things have to change or we will only end up with 2010 being a repeat of 2009 (and 2008 (and 2007...))

The article also confirmed we are only looking at signing an overseas player and no one else. The good news is that this means keeping Shahzad and Hoggy seems to be at the forefront of the Boards minds. the bad news is if we lose them then next seasons seam bowling attack looks weak

Shahzad and Hoggy

They'd be mad if they let them go. In fact, if they do I fear for next season. Without those two and with Rashid and Bresnan with England I can't see where 20 wickets will come from.

Good management.

Sometimes you really have to hand it to Stewart Regan. This is very shrewd management; At a stroke he has quashed any speculation about the future of Moxon - making his position safe before any groundswell of opinion is allowed to build up against him. By making Moxon safe - but not doing the same for Mags - he has implicitly suggested that the captaincy IS up for review and that mcGrath's position is far from safe.
I hope we can find away to relieve Antony of the captaincy but not lose him as a player. I would suspect that Gripper's attractiveness to other Counties must have diminished following the season he's just had - so he may find himself satying at Yorkshire by default.
It needs a bit of careful handling by Martyn - a revitalised Mags shorn of the captaincy could be a real asset to our middle order!

Agree about Mags Steve ... I've wanted him to stand down from the captaincy for half the season ... but only if Yorks had confirmed that his place in thre team wasn't in doubt. McGrath has looked as though he's had the weight of the world on his shoulders ... not good for one the batsmen we need to score heavily

hes had his benefit going on this season as well - to leave now would be a kick in the teeth to all those who have supported him this season.
