I know we've debated this over the years, but did we ever come up with a definitive answer? Is it Wilfred Rhodes who was 96 when he died, or has some obscure former player outlived them all?

Horace Brearley was the oldest living Yorks cricketer til he died earlier this year at 94 - see link below.

He was Mike Brearleys Dad and he only played once for Yorkshire (but that was more than Mike ever played for us so it will have given him bragging rights around the dinner table for years as one game for us is worth a million for anyone else!)

I wonder if there are any Yorkshire cricket historians or historical societies who could answer this? We've been batting it around for years, with no resolution.

I'm of the opinion that it is NOT Wilfred Rhodes, and that some other Yorkshire player must have lived beyond 96 years.
